St. George's School Cologne

St. George's British International School has been an integral part of the international community in Germany since 1985 when it was founded by an English family in Cologne. Since then, St. George's has founded further schools in Duisburg-Düsseldorf (2002) and Munich (2013). With over 1700 pupils in its three schools, the success of St. George’s School lies in its vision of every child loving going to school.

St. George's provides a full school day for pupils aged 2 to 18 and incorporates all school years including Pre-Nursery and Nursery classes, all the way through to Sixth Form, where pupils study the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. The Diploma is fully recognised for university entrance in Germany and worldwide.

St. George's School, Cologne, also offers a modern and purpose built boarding school for pupils aged 11 to 14. It provides an international family atmosphere with the very best of traditional English boarding.

All pupils are given individual support and attention throughout their time at the school, which will also enable them to transition back into their home country’s school system if necessary. 45% of St. George's student body is comprised of German pupils and the rest comes from over 60 different nations; hence integration is not only theory but is practiced on a daily basis. A school uniform further enhances integration and solidarity between pupils. All children are introduced and immersed in traditions, holidays and history of the local German culture.

It is St. George's School’s aim to achieve the highest possible academic standards by having small classes (maximum 20 pupils per class), a dedicated and enthusiastic staff and a positive atmosphere throughout the school. The student-teacher ratio of 7 to 1 allows for individual attention to be placed on each pupil's specific needs, for stronger and weaker pupils alike. Non English speakers are given extra support through the ESL department. The first foreign language taught is German, which is taught at native, second language and beginner levels. All pupils will additionally study either French or Spanish as a third language. After school clubs are offered on a regular basis.
