Rindermarkt
The
Rindermarkt is a market square in the center of
Munich. It was previously a cow market, hence the name - "Rinder" being the German for "beef". Nowadays not much happens on the Rindermarkt. There is a cascading fountain together with a statue of three or four stone cows. This was built by Josef Henselmann in 1964. During Advent there is a Christmas Market. This is home to the infamous
pots of evil.
On spring and summer days, it's very nice to sit around the Rindermarkt fountain (plenty of space to sit) with something to eat or drink from the adjacent to-go shops (Subway, vinzenzmurr, coffee shop).
Rindermarkt is not even a 2-minute walk away from
Marienplatz.
