In the summer of 2006 Munich is scheduled to join Frankfurt and Berlin as Germany's third non-immigrant visa issuance post. We are currently renovating the consular section to be able to offer Non-Immigrant Visa Services in the morning and American Citizen Services in the afternoon. Visa interviews are scheduled by appointment only through our fee-based call center: 0900 1-850055 (€1,86/Min). Once an opening date for Munich's visa section is publicly announced, we will begin accepting appointments for visa interviews.
The Consular Section prefers electronic correspondence Consmunich@state.gov and encourages the use of our website www.usembassy.de
as the primary source of information. The website may also be used to check the status of your passport application online.
Please note that Consular Reports of Birth Abroad and First-time Passport Issuances are done by appointment only. To schedule an appointment please email us with the applicant's name, address, phone number and age. Passport applicants that are able to apply for a passport by mail are strongly encouraged to do so.
Interestingly, a piece of the Berlin Wall is located outside the consulate building. See comments about this in the TT chat: Berlin Wall in Munich
