Posted 30 Nov 2022 In a bit of a quandary where to post this; in the Vent or here - but as I was kind of flummoxed at my own reaction to the actual flummox, here it is: I am watching the game between Mexico and Saudi Arabia. The Mexican national anthem is being played. The players are singing with gusto, the Mexicans who have travelled to see their team are singing their hearts out; grown men crying - a small boy belting it out. Well, I'm no flag waving gung ho patriot, I mostly find it a bit embarrassing, but when the camera went on to the Mexican coaching team and none of them were singing - they were chewing gum, I got really angry! 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Posted 2 Dec 2022 Well there are traditions at certain times of year, and there are other people's traditions. On a trip to Spain, visiting a Christmas market, was a little shocked at a market stall selling small figurines of someone taking a dump. Nothing left to the imagination at all. Google being my friend I asked. Lo and behold: not just Spain but areas of France too hide such figurines in their nativity decorations. They're called Caganer and, please, don't try to Google it unless you're sure you can later unsee the pictures. My link is 'only' Wiki which although picture free, is descriptive enough for me... And I had to promise to place it amongst my Xmas decorations this year, as it's supposed to bring good luck next year.
