Posted 28 Oct 2022 Just been at a local Edeka. Lots of flowers outside, being appreciated by little bees. One got in my hair, but was easy to remove. Guy from Edeka saw this and apologised, said there were some ground nesting bees nearby, but not to worry, they were poisoning them. Nice.

Posted 30 Oct 2022 Onging saga with ICE 1020 to Hamburg... Train came into Koblenz on time. AFter boarding came announcement that they had to reglue a window (Scheibe). That cost 20 mins then progress was slow (we were probably behind some goods train). Not long after leaving Düsseldorf we stopped in nomans land. After a while the lady came over the loudspeakers "we don't know how this has happened but somehow we have been "fehlgeleitet" onto a "Stumpfgleiss" (Dead End). So after much telephoning the driver had to go to the oter end of the train (its long) to take us back to Düsseldorf Hbf. Once there he had to move back to the front end (long way) before we tried again. Delay by now 97 minutes. Announcement came of the intended route & that "mit Gottes Hilfe" we will arrive in Hamburg. Much rolling of the eyes (the train is pretty full). UPDATE: Just departed Münster, delay still 97 mins. Next stop Hamburg-Harburg

I had one where the train hit a bird and it cracked the window. They had to stop in some village middle of nowhere. This was late at night too. After some back and forth, they decided it was not safe to continue but they re-routed another train to pick us up. It was packed.

Next stop Hamburg-Harburg Ask the ticket collector for a form to enter your delay, so you can at least claim some of your money back. Dutch friends came to me to Munich with 2 hours delay: 50% money back I believe.

I did - arrived in Hamburg about 1.5 hrs late, stayed on until Alona & took RB to Pinneberg to pick up car that wife had parked. 2 hours ago, LukeSkywalker said: Ask the ticket collector for a form to enter your delay, so you can at least claim some of your money back They came round with such forms & suggested that people claimed online. Whether ist worth claiming part of the half of 67 Euros - since my ticket is funded by our Landesverband I asked the Geschäftsführer for his opinion. I don't want to wait too long for a refund of the hotel costs. In fact they never checked the tickets.

I don't want to wait too long for a refund of the hotel costs. I have sent in plenty of those forms in the past. If you end up arriving 60-120 minutes late, you qualify for 25% of your money back. If you want to do it, they'd prefer you to get something signed either by train staff or by DB Info stating that the train was late but it's not completely mandatory since they should know which trains were late anyway. They just say get it if possible.

The German commentators cheered the Japanese performance. 'nuff said.

Germany looked like they could have played all day without scoring unless they picked up a penalty. Seeing how Spain are playing (7-0 and counting), Germany are on course to be out of the tournament by Sunday.
