Thanks for the kind words Ellewood, Jeeves and Interplanetjanet. I think you guys best understood what I meant.

 

Maybe someday I'll feel differently about German men, but right now -- no. I got burned pretty badly and am pretty gun-shy now and in all honesty, it probably didn't have anything at all to do with language barriers (which no longer exist, but did at the time) -- we were just too young and naive. But, once burned, twice shy, right? Despite all that, I would still prefer someone who speaks my mother tongue as a native speaker and if that makes me racist like someone here suggested, I guess I can live with that accusation because that is all it is -- an accusation and a crappy one and unfair one at that! :P

Nah, come on, Dust yourself down and carry on..

Life is too short to lick your wounds, Hold your head high and have confidence..

 

It works for me.
