Which is it, the political robocalls or the endless bumper stickers that you miss most?

I went through homesick phases when I first came here. Now I couldn't see my self living anywhere else.

I have been homesick since Christmas, you are not alone, it will come and go in waves. Just try to find the positive about the things you like here.

I have been here for 6 months now and twice I have seriously planned to go back. It has been really hard for me. Moving in to my girlfriends house with her teenage children giving up my customer base in England and dropping nearly 30k a year. I lived by the sea too which I also miss but strangely enough I have stayed. Things are becoming better slowly and maybe one day I get the job that better suits my skills .

Hold on it takes a bit. Germany is not so bad.

Happens to us all.As you are here longer the pangs get weaker and the times you actually do go back distance themselves greatly

The only times I have been homesick was about a month after I first got here, christmas and my birthday. Apart from that I just try and remember that it is up to me to make this experience worth it. And I don't want to look back when I go home and think that I spent 2 years in germany and achieved nothing.

Now I'm heading home in a few months and I am sure I am going to be 'homesick' for Munich!

Is it really homesickness or just feeling lonely/fed up at the moment?

The first 1/2 year after my move here (25 yrs ago) were lonely but homesickness never came into it.

My gf gets homesick every now and then, but I think really it's more missing her family than anything else. Can't really say that I suffer that much although I used to miss Regensburg a lot. Most of my good friends left the island at the same time I did, so it's not really like all my friends are back home having a ball without me.

I was in the States a couple weeks ago, and quickly grew homesick for my life (my wife and kids) here in Germany. I like the States okay, but I never long to be there anymore. In fact just landing in Paris to board a flight to Stuttgart, I felt so happy to be back in Europe. I don´t understand the States anymore after 20 years away.

hey, I am feeling homesick too, I miss england, although I am hungarian, but I lived for the last 8 years in england, and sometimes I still feel the same, pack up and go back, which may happen, home is where the heart is ;) and it is really not that far, take the plane and make a trip :-)

Make every place you touch be your home.

Home sickness will be replaced with a sweet longing for all your other house rooms.

The price to pay is very high though.

i suffered from a bout of homesickeness recently. this is my first time living away from home. i just pigged out on comfort food and watched a funny movie. That cheered me up. I also blogged about it so my mum rang to cheer me up and got loads of msgs from friends they were jealous of me getting the chance to live in Germany. That cheered me up also. Dont worry babes it will pass. I will help tomorrow i promise!

Silly question maybe - but why did you come here then? Must have been some reason or two... Are they no longer valid?

Homesick!?!? Me too! Me too!

I miss my family! My friends! Happy Hour after work! *sigh*

Even though I have met alot of people here and some of the TT events have been great, I still feel like a round peg in a square hole. :(

Everybody goes through it!

I used to cross off the days until my next trip back home! God!

Now 5 years later I rarely go home, maybe once a year! I use my spare time to travel, travel, travel!

Take advantage of your situation, look at the amazing oppurtunites at yor feet. Think of the experiences you are having and sad as it seems I think of my mates back home who are missing the oppurtunities that I am having. I know they are happy with their lives though and why wouldn't they! This is the path I choose!

Now this path is moving me further afield to Hong Kong which I'm sure I'll start off homesick and just get into the swing of things again!

That's life!
