Freezer clean out- found 1/2 Baguette, small bag of candied peel.  Comfort food calling!

Bread and butter pudding.

Slice baguette, and butter each piece. Smear some marmalade  on each piece.

Arrange in a dish, each overlapping . Sprinkle some of the peel over the bread.  ( Or use sultanas if you have them).

Mix 3 eggs and 325 mls of milk  and pour over bread. Let stand in fridge for about an hour so bread absorbs fluid.

Bake in oven on high shelf, 350F, for 30-40 minutes, till it puffs up and edges of bread are crispy golden.

Serve with custard, or Ice cream or both!

Sounds very British but oh so good... :)

Or pour some cold heavy cream over the hot pudding, or top it with hard sauce, or or or...

Bread pudding is wonderful! I always add a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the milk, and a 1/2 cup of sugar. Some people toast the bread before buttering it. It's always good, no matter how you make it.

Sorry for repetitive ice cream pics 🤣🍦🍨.

I made a toasted almond ice cream with a marzipan swirl. It’s good, but I have to work on the marzipan swirl part.

Mmm! Must try that.

Salad Nicoise today- complete with green beans, olives and new potatoes. But no anchovies.

Very easy to make and delicious!! I eat very little fish as a rule ( don't like the smell ) but salmon, tuna, cod and plaice - yep. Nothing else and definitely no seafood- yuk😭😩

( And definitely no anchovies😩). I leave the love of them to Nicole!😀😇
I am mostly a meat-eating vegetarian and Nicole is mostly a vegetarian.

What about boiled eggs? Without it, it's not salad Nicoise.

Yeah,  Luke! And olives! By the way, I absolutely hate olives and refuse to eat even one but love olive oil.( Has to do with visiting a penfriend in Stuttgart when I was 18..😂)

Complete- so tuna, boiled eggs. Tomatoes, spring onions, cucumbers, radishes, avocados  are all a given!

Large bowl needed for this! I like French dressing, or Thai sesame dressing.

Just remembered! Had two ( room temperature ) boiled eggs yesterday and a non- olive salad after a visit to the dentist! She advised me not to add my extracted tooth root to my meal as only soft, luke warm ( your name!!) food would be cool ( modern jargon)..beet root would be ok but I checked in the fridge and it had gone mouldy ..so went without.😖

Plus a heavy duty pain killer.

Had a good sleep afterwards!

Yesterday! Sirloin, Med veg, home-made garlic butter, toast soaked in olive oil to make it all palatable!

All comfortably eaten in front of the computer!!
