Buying a new piano in Munich

12 posts in this topic

´We are now in the market for a new piano, but have no idea where to shop. Our daughters teacher recommended a shop in Regensburg, but that is a bit far to be honest. Can anyone recommend a shop in or around Munich. We have a budget of up 7 - 8000 euros. Thanks.

It's obviously a musical morning.

During our Great Piano Hunt (still not over) we visited Piano Fischer near Isartor http://www.piano-fischer.de/ they are probably the biggest one in Munich and were very friendly.

There is also Hirsch at Sendlinger Tor, not quite as big: http://www.klavierhirsch.de/

We also went to somewhere near Landshut, I'll try to post the name later if I can remember it. There are some smaller workshops if you are interested in a particular brand e.g. Steingraeber, August Förster, but it sounds like for what you are looking for Fischer would be the best place to start (they have some second hand instruments as well as new).

I bought my piano from these guys a few years ago.

you can negotiate a price with them if you pay cash (or you could back then) I got a free stool and free first tuning.

Some more links from the fount of all piano knowledge (the poster known as Markus, who said it's fine to PM him if you need more info on these places):

http://www.piano-schweisser.de/ near Landshut, has a good selection of uprights

http://www.piano-hall.de/ small workshop and piano dealer near Nymphenburg

http://www.piano-schwaegerl.de/ near Harras

Most dealers will give you a free first tuning when you buy a piano.

Mootboot, please tell me that you didn't buy that bright red piano on the link you posted :o
