//Edit:// My last sentence should read: "In short, not in the least trying to downplay Haule's crimes, ..."

It has little to do with Ami-bashing.

Suggest a read-up on the Rote AF is in order. And a little understanding on what happened to the other members.

Aside from those 'expedited' in jail (Baader, Raspe, Ensslin), we have:

B. Mohnhaupt - recently released after 24 years

B. Hogefeld - the lure of the murder of the American soldier in preparation for the bombing - parole refused.

C. Klar - parole refused, up again in 2009 - in jail for 25 years

Just heard a quote from Klaus Kinkel about dealing with the RAF, that seemed worth mentioning. He said: "Without the RAF prisoners, there is no RAF."

Meaning that their violence was fueled by the (so percieved) mistreatment of the RAF prisoners by the state. When the authorities started to show mercy, the terrorists lost support and soon gave up. So parolling of some of those idiots might not be the weakness of mislead german pacifists but a pragmatic and calculated attempt to finally defeat them.

Could it be a worthy strategy to solve other political conflicts?

The FDP of which Kinkel is a member, has always been behind moves to relase the prisoners, right from the start.
