Entertainments for kids around Umstadt / Darmstadt

7 posts in this topic

Hey, just wondering if anyone knows of any exciting things or places to take children too in the umstadt/darmstadt area. Theyre only young 4 and 2 and weve pretty much exhausxted the local playgrounds and swimming pool and with this frightfully awful weather were going a little stir crazy!

No. But. If my time with my nieces and nephews is anything to go by, at that age, a short attention span combined with an insatiable curiousity means that, as long as the scenery changes often enough, they'll find something, and just to add a little spice to the experience, something usually either dangerous or unsavoury, to keep themselves amused. The trick, which I never mastered, is not to run out of stamina before they exhaust themselves.

Still, the weather is supposed to improve dramatically over the weekend: you can expect to make parole and be let out of the clink.

The weather picked up (at last) even if only for a few days, and we acidentally stumbled upon the public pool in Schaaheim (sp?) anyhoo, for those in a similar situation, the pool is nice, clean and very spacious...has a totally amazing entry fee 2.50 euro for adults and free for the kids, has a playground, a cafe and even a shaded area for the baby to take an afternoon nap in, the two kiddie pools were great too, just the right depth. So, I would totally reccomend it to anyone!

I know Wiesbaden is a bit of a drive from Darmstadt but I would highly recommend Schloss Freudenberg http://www.kindererlebnis.de/freudenb.htm . I took my 5 year old daughter there last summer and we had a great time on the bare foot path and having a go on the various interactive installations they,ve got there. The kids can even have a go at making their own bread.

The Opel Zoo in Krönberg is also worth a visit as they,ve got a Streichel Zoo and a really good play area.

this might be of interest to you and your kids... due to this summer's crazy weather we have had quite a number of families with small kids inquire about our summer language camp and whether they may participate together with their younger kids. so we decided that moms and/or dads may bring the little siblings free of charge and we have a family fun program. have a look at the flyer i've attached. we do singing and outings and fun games throughout the week. and if it rains we just carry on with making mask and costumes or baking cookies. you may contact us on dorothea@tikiriki.eu or ring us on 01726029788. post-20298-1185508728_thumb.jpg

Try LEO'S SPIELPARC in Darmsadt, it has a nice cafe (although a bit limited menu) and a special place for the little ones. Lots of things to jump on, climb and ride, my kids 5-14 enjoy it.
