I found a website which has Musterbriefe (standard or example letters) written in German which can be used to base your own letter on, i.e. for:

 

Wohnen ((ver)mieten, Haus kaufen/bauen, umziehen)

Private Anlässe (Kaufverträge, Geburtstag, Weihnachten, Zitate usw.)

Arbeitsrecht (Kündigung, Abmahnung, Zeugnis)

Steuern (Aufschub, Widerspruch)

Internetdienstleistungen (Webdesign-Vertrag, Provider-Vertrag, Domainübertragung)

Geschäftlich (Mahnung, Mängelanzeige, Storno)

Handy (SMS-Sprüche, Musterkündigung Handy-Abo )

Sonstiges (Organspende, Musterbriefe von Amnesty International)

Recently I found a musterbrief for changing bank details that goes something like this:

Can anyone help with some text for ending utility agreements (water, electricity, gas etc)

I just need a simple termination of services as of date xxxx ... but my German is not good enought to pen something together.

The links to the sites above unfortunately didn't include any suggestions for utilities.

You would need to give them the meter readings or get someone round to do that for you so you should perhaps put in there

 

"Die entsprechenden Ablesungen werde ich am xxxx vornehmen und Ihnen per Brief zukommen lassen". Die Endabrechnung können Sie an

folgende Adresse schicken ..."

meaning

 

I will take the corresponding meter reading on xxxx and inform you via post. Please send the final bill to the following address...

 

Hope that helps. You could try calling if it is the Stadtwerke - I think they have people who speak English and you may be able to do it all on the phone to save you the hassle..
