Doctor Who (TV series)

Yes, the loss of Elisabeth Slade just days before the premiere is quite sad. I still cry any time I watch School Reunion. "Goodbye, my Sarah Jane."

And her quote...

"The universe has to move forward. Pain and loss, they define us as much as happiness or love. Whether it's a world, or a relationship... Everything has its time. And everything ends."

As it is my mother and brother are well aware that I will have full control of the television tomorrow to watch the entire fifth series leading up to the series six debut. Mom doesn't quite get why I've been squeeing randomly these past few days and bouncing like a child. I've been trying to get the German Fiance onto it, but he says it seems 'derivative' and doesn't understand that these are fighting words, especially since he likes Warhammer 40k...

Either way, cannot WAIT until tomorrow.

Rip Sarah Jane, I loved the character, one of the best companions ever, she'll be sorely missed.

Changing the subject, and without the intent of spoiling it for any one else reading this, can anyone who saw last saturdays ep possibly pm me about who died? I have a suspicion, but would love to know if I am right or not : )

So moffat has thrown a tantrum over spoilers-- http://uk.news.yahoo.com/doctor-plot-leaks-vandalism-095828998.html;_ylt=AkXInlaK1q9lkLT6KczcV7b5fcl_;_ylu=X3oDMTNwYmZqMWxiBGNjb2RlA3dlaWdodGVkY3QEcGtnAzA3MmJlODFiLTI0MzItM2U3Zi1iZDFlLWQyN2RkYjg4ZDFhZARwb3MDMwRzZWMDTW9zdCBQb3B1bGFyBHZlcgM3ZDU4ZjBjMC03YmI2LTExZTAtYWZkZS01MGZmMTYzMjhiMTU-;_ylg=X3oDMTFjamRybm9vBGludGwDZ2IEbGFuZwNlbi1nYgRwc3RhaWQDBHB0A3NlY3Rpb25zBHRlc3QD;_ylv=3

What does everyone think?

He wishes they would "go and be fans of something else"? And he "hates" a certain section of fandom now? strong words indeed.

Fair point, they do, conversely other fans love them, I think they're easily avoided if you don't want them though, and alienating fans won't get him anywhere.

What show IS free from spoilers these days?

Personally I do like them, but respect other fans not wanting to know, my partner for example, hates spoilers.

It'd have been a better reaction just to think "oh well those particular fans ruined it for themselves".

"oh well those particular fans ruined it for themselves".

Well technically they hadn't as the fan who posted the entire plot details for the first two episode had been invited to the private press screening along with other fans who kept quiet. The press kept their word and did not reveal anything.

If anything, Moffat should refuse to allow fans to further private showings and have press only. At least then, if there is a leak you can blame the press.

That said, I didn't even know the details were on the interwebby? And wouldn't have looked ieven if I had.

On to this series - I am still not getting Matt Smith as the Doctor and Rory and whatserface...meh!

I mean generally, that should be his attitude , instead of throwing tantrums whenever it happens,as I am sure this won't be the last time details are leaked. He'll drive himself crazy otherwise.

I don't get this as a tantrum. I mean "blasted" is a phrase that gets my goat, it's so often out of proportion to what was actually said, reading the article this is a case in point.

Moff is a fan himself. He used to frequent a London fan meet I used to go to. The hardcore seem to think they're the bedrock of the audience, and take offence at the slightest criticism. They're not, they're a tiny portion of the audience. And anyway it's not a criticism of the entire hard core, just those who act like idiots.

If this was ITV I would just assume this is because they are worried the rating and therefore advert revenue will drop.

However I think that anyone at the BBC will know that you could post the entire plot of a whole series of Dr. Who and poeple would still watch it.

I can see where he is coming from but he has to understand, once you create, people will do what they will. Like giving a present, it gets used as it gets used - may not be as you expected.

Somehow watching them online but not reading up on them before hand now seems almost ok in comparison

Just seen the Doctor's wife - liked it very much.

Neil Gaiman is the dog's bollocks.

Am guilty of looking up spoilers but often cos I don't expect to actually see the series due to BBC blasting any teenager posting them on youtube. Sometimes it ruins it, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes the newspapers also fuck it up entirely - just read a clipping which tells me whodunnit in the Killing...which i really wanted to watch on boxset.

A small hiatus now till Autumn and may I say without putting in any spoilers - what an utter, utter, utter piss poor twist to end the episode on.

Really? Had it not been floated on tinternet for the last two months I would've liked it. It did lead to DW being called the

I've never seen it spoiled, but lots of people I know guessed where it was going.

Apart from the google translate bit, hadn't worked out that element.

I have a question to ask regards the current series, --If the 11th Dr is killed 200 years in the future, then surely if matt smith leaves then that's the end of the series?

(unless there's some kind of timey whimey plot reset button device used at the end of the second half of the new series? as seen in previous seasons)

Errm, maybe you answered your own question...

unless there's some kind of timey whimey plot reset button device

In fact in the epsisode "The Almost People", he does tell his duplicate counterpart that he is probably complex enough to regenerate himself.
