Jesus has been about as useful as tits on a bull in this matter.

That's just a bunch of bulltit...

Jokes aside, it would be wonderful if she were found alive, unharmed and doing well. I just don't see it happening.

Madeleine McCann: UK police 'seek to bring closure'

The detective leading the UK review of Madeleine McCann's disappearance says they have the "best opportunity" yet to find the missing girl.

Det Ch Insp Andy Redwood told the BBC's Panorama his team were "seeking to bring closure to the case"...

DCI Redwood believes the case could be solved by reappraising the documentary evidence. ...

But he said if the case is to be reopened, it is up to the Portuguese police.

"It is a sovereign decision for the Portuguese authorities. But obviously what we seek to do is to bring them the best quality information to assist them in making that decision."

Police are now saying they have reason to believe she may still be alive

"As a result of evidence uncovered during the review, they now believe there is a possibility Madeleine is still alive and are appealing for anyone who is able to provide direct information as to her whereabouts to contact the team," police said in a statement

Madeleine McCann case not being reopened, Portuguese officials say

Portuguese authorities say they are not reopening their investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

The attorney-general's office said this would only happen if there were "new, credible and relevant facts and not mere hypotheses or speculations".

But Portuguese police will re-examine elements of the inquiry after UK officers said they had identified 195 "investigative opportunities".

Allegedly spotted with German family:

Cops to check Costa sighting

DETECTIVES searching for Madeleine McCann are following up fresh clues from a potential sighting on Spain’s Costa del Sol.

A blonde girl identical to Madeleine was seen at a campsite there three days after she was snatched a few hours drive away in Praia da Luz, Portugal, on May 3, 2007.

A witness said the groggy-looking child seemed alienated from the German family she was staying with in a caravan. ...

Karen...said she got no response from cops when she raised the alarm at the time.

Karen, of Gibraltar, said the girl wore a pink T-shirt, shorts and a beige hat and seemed “out of it”.

She did not seem to fit with the German couple or their two curly-haired toddlers...

Campsite records seen by The Sun show they checked in under the name Karsten Mayer with a 1970 date of birth.

Their car had a “BE” German plate, which went out of official use 38 years ago. Karen believes their car was a blue Mercedes Vito people carrier, first produced in 1996.

There's someone in Beerfelden with the above name, which might fit with choosing an old BE number plate for a 1996 car (which, according to the post below, would have been possible until 1997) even if the plate didn't correspond to that town. Probably just a coincidence, though.

http://www.motor-talk.de/forum/das-gute-alte-nummernschild-t1891466.html

And questions over the number plates on their car have raised fears they could have been fakes used to dodge detection.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2141087/Madeleine-McCann-Last-picture-went-missing-used-sell-Portugal-holidays.html

But the following post suggests they could legitimately have had old plates, as the poster estimates that 5-10% of cars still have them:

Die Schilder sind zwar mittlerweile selten geworden, aber so selten, dass sie einem hervorstechen nun auch noch nicht. Ich schätze mal, dass noch 5%-10% der Kfz so ein Kennzeichen haben.

http://www.motor-talk.de/forum/das-gute-alte-nummernschild-t1891466.html

According to this, the BE plates for Beckum were issued until 1974.

So what kind of cars can legitimately drive with old plates? Is it just possible for old-timer cars, i.e. according to above link, cars over 30 years old? Confusing.

Would be great if it is indeed her.

but her mother appeared to be British.

Her mother, who bore no resemblance to her, was a strange woman who didn’t talk on the entire trip.

How did she appear to be british? Was she drinking tea with her little finger pointing out?

Some British chick goes on vacation with her cousins, and now there's an international search and rescue for her...

That said, I do hope it was her and that they do find her if it was.

"She didn’t seem to fit with her family at all. Her father was clearly German, as were her two brothers — both around ten to 12 years old — but her mother appeared to be British.

"They were all speaking German — except for the girl, who I heard speaking British English.”

Does not compute. Methinks Mr. Bode got a bit too much of The Sun on Ibiza.

So the girl was speaking English with her British mom, while the boys were speaking German with their German dad. Yeah, that would never happen in real life.

Sorry, but

English speaking kids on public transport with one German parent and one English parent who seems strange... I'm surprised there isn't a Maddie spotting daily in Munich.

According to Chris Spivey she is buried in Robert Murat's garden (although he is innocent!)

I've heard of that case ,of course. But it's only today that I've read somewhere that on that specific evening the parent went out for dinner and left the then 4 year old girl together with even their even younger children alone in the apartment. Hard to believe. Is this true?
