The shamrock holds texas hold em tournaments every thursday and sunday with a 10 euro entry, they have up to 8 tables going at once. so if you looking for regular games head down there weekly.

It depends on the number of people playing..

an amount goes to the month price and the rest is divided among top 6.. the winner getting the bigger part

usually it is about 100 euros for the winner. *approx*

I played once at the Shamrock - price is cheap ,but pay-out structure is weak as they save half the pot for a point structured end-of-the-month payout to the one who has the most points.

Still - last 5-6 players get a frew beer, which is nice.

Blinds go up too fast - you're busy shuffling more than you are playin a hand.

player skill level, for the most part, is low. Lots of young Germans - one guy wasn't even old enough to drink!

luck plays more of a role than skill

Bar: great bar, great people workin' there, great selection of drinks.

Legality: Cash games are illegal in Germany, only registered tournaments are legal. There was a police raid (200 or so cops) that hit a tourney in Munich, but since all was on the up and up, everything went ok. I had EUR 6 in cash on the table during the tournament at The Shamrock (it was the change for my brew) and the owner asked me kindly to remove it. It was a bit strict, so I must assume the fuzz got on their case.

If you have wheels, I suggest going down to Salzburg. The Austrian Laws are different than in Germany. Salzburg is about a 70-80 minute drive. THey have a nice card room. http://www.poker-club.at/ They have decent tournaments with 92% money pay-out (8 pct goes to paying dealers + house). food is good, tournaments are well run. Also, quality of the players is much better - and nice to have professional dealers + players which are laid back and know what they're doing. ONly down side is the size; only 3 tables; max 32 players. Also a bit smokey. They are looking for a new location, however. After the Tourney, they start a 2-4 pot limit cash game, then a 1-2 pot limit cash game.

yeah Austria is cool, so is London for playing poker, but unfortunetely we're in Munich, where the laws are a bit stricter, private cash games might still be illegal but the polizei wont raid a house for a €20 pot.

Another possibility:

I haven't checked the place out myself, yet. But the temptation is there. If anyone here has the scoop on the place, I'd love to hear your review/opinions.

I went down there a weekend or 2 ago to check the place out - they are currently doing up their main casino rooms, so they only have slot machines at the moment. It should be open first weekend in May.
