Untold human suffering’: 11,000 scientists from across world unite to declare global climate emergency

Quote

Eleven thousand scientists in 153 countries have declared a climate emergency and warned that “untold human suffering” is unavoidable without huge shifts in the way we live.

The letter is based on climate science that was first established in 1979 at the first World Climate Conference held in Geneva. For decades multiple global bodies have agreed urgent action is needed but greenhouse gas emissions continue to rise.

“Despite 40 years of major global negotiations, we have continued to conduct business as usual and have failed to address this crisis,” said William Ripple, professor of ecology at Oregon State University, who spearheaded the letter.

“Climate change has arrived and is accelerating faster than many scientists expected,” according to the letter published in BioScience.

Researchers say they have a moral obligation to “clearly warn humanity of any catastrophic threat” and “tell it like it is”. “Clearly and unequivocally planet Earth is facing a climate emergency,” they state.

Australian Family will sail eco warrior Greta Thunberg from US to Spain for a UN climate meeting after she refused help from Donald Trump.

The conscientious climate-change objector Donald Trump declined to offer Greta Airforce 1 his pet 747 jumbo jet, instead authorising use of Seaforce 13 the presidential pedalo.

In addition Trump also said that the aircraft carrier USS Kaepernick and nuclear submarine USS Manning will escort the environmental campaigner during her month-long paddle to Madrid, with helicopters from the carrier regularly winching boxes of organic juice and raisin snacks down to keep energy levels high yet carbon levels low.

Italian council is flooded immediately after rejecting measures on climate change

Quote

Veneto regional council, which is located on Venice's Grand Canal, was flooded for the first time in its history on Tuesday night -- just after it rejected measures to combat climate change.

The historic Italian city has been brought to its knees this week by the worst flooding there in more than 50 years.

And the council chamber in Ferro Fini Palace started to take in water around 10 p.m. local time, as councillors were debating the 2020 regional budget,

Democratic Party councillor Andrea Zanoni said in a long Facebook post, which also has photographs of the room under water,
"Ironically, the chamber was flooded two minutes after the majority League, Brothers of Italy, and Forza Italia parties rejected our amendments to tackle climate change,"

These underlings in France refused to pay Mr Macron his Global Warming Tax, so they are causing no end of trouble. This was filmed today by one of the duo who was on Epstein island. You know, the guy who didn't kill himself.

Look at the mess they are making and hopefully the police thrash them of course...

And yet again, Boom Boy shoehorns Epstein into a thread for absolutely no fucking reason. That Hitler was bit of a cunt, wasn't he.

New York Times Book Review  Lessons in Survival by Emily Raboteau, is an interesting essay about sea-level rise and social justice.

Here's a link to the IPCC report referenced in the essay.

IPCC Fact Sheet contains the highlights from the report.

Quote

In September, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released a new report showing that low-lying coastal zones, home to 680 million people—about 10 percent of the world’s population—are under severe risk of increased sea level rise, extreme weather, and more frequent and stronger storms. Over half the world’s megacities and 1.9 billion people living on the world’s coasts are in grave danger, and several cities are already disappearing underwater.
