Some people on Crete have told me over the years their reluctance to pay tax stems from the Turkish control over Greece for a long time and they didn´t want to pay tributes to their occupiers...makes sense...but now?:)

On a simple level, I had always thought of conspiracy theories being beliefs of those who question what we are told to believe through the media etc.  Seemingly nothing wrong with that as so much of what we have been lead to believe has been proven untrue or corrupt...off to order my tin foil hat then...

It seems that YouTube's recommendation algorithm has been directing users viewing innocuous content to 'controversial and potentially dangerous content they might never have stumbled on otherwise'. This apparently includes conspiracy theory content.

BBC: 'YouTube regrets: Anecdotal claims of damaged users'

Quote

"My 10-year-old sweet daughter innocently searched for 'tap dance videos'," one parent wrote. "Now she is in this spiral of... videos that give her horrible unsafe body-harming and body-image-damaging advice."

This is one of hundreds of accounts outlining damage said to have been caused by YouTube's recommendations algorithm.

...

Mozilla asked the public to share their "YouTube regrets" - videos recommended to users of the video clip platform, which led them down bizarre or dangerous paths.

"The hundreds of responses we received were frightening: users routinely report being recommended racism, conspiracies, and violence after watching innocuous content," said Ashley Boyd, Mozilla's vice-president of advocacy.

...

"My ex-wife, who has mental health problems, started watching conspiracy videos three years ago and believed every single one," recalled one contributor.

"YouTube just kept feeding her paranoia, fear and anxiety, one video after another."

...

Wars, assasinations , murders don´t occur in  vacuum. There are reasons. There are interests at stake. There are always interests - even the little old lady next door has a reason she poisons your cat.

Financial reasons ( she might be forced to feed another cat if the neighbours find out  to save her face ).

Envy/jealousy

Lack of empathy

Indifference

Ignorance

Have I forgotten something?

Should you question our knowledge about human anatomy and diseases? Sure. This is what scientists do all the time.

Should you believe that sugar balls sold with 1000% profit, funded by your Krankenkasse, can replace decades of research and cure all diseases?

Was recently looking at some videos on YouTube about the QAnon phenomenon (Wikipedia), in particular those that included interviews with enthusiasts (see below), and really can't fathom why anyone would believe these notions very possibly put about by someone or several people sitting in their bedrooms in their underpants. Why would anyone believe that the world is led by a cabal of paedophiles (why are people in anglophone countries so obsessed with that subject?) let alone that Michelle Obama is really a man (an idea that to me seems to be highly misogynistic and racist)?

CNN reporter talks to conspiracy theorists at Trump rally

Sitting Down with QAnon Conspiracy Theorists (with a woman who thinks Michelle O. is a man)
QAnon and Pizzagate Conspiracy Theorists Rampant at Trump Rallies (with an enthusiast who's a doctor)

And it's clearly not going away. A recent article:

‘QAnon’ conspiracy theory creeps into mainstream politics

"What started as an online obsession for the far-right fringe has grown beyond its origins in a dark corner of the internet. QAnon has been creeping into the mainstream political arena for more than a year. The trend shows no sign of abating as Trump fires up his reelection campaign operation, attracting a loyal audience of conspiracy theorists and other fringe groups to his raucous rallies."

The conspiracy theorists were created by the fake conspiracy news media to muddle the waters.

Jon Wedger tried to expose the Westminster paedophile network but was hammered for it:

Mike Tarraga was abused by the person who brought us into the EU Ted Heath:

Anna Brees has a company which gives mobile phones to survivors of abuse to tell their story.

Everyone who has been brave enough to speak out about this has been attacked. Melanie Shaw is in Rampton  - a victim of a royal. Upon being taken away, she recited accurately the royal's credit card number.
