Food from the UK

14 posts in this topic

Hello all...

Iwas wandering around Frankfurt today and

came accross a street market near borseplatz. While there I

found a stand selling all kinds of UK food stuffs including

the elusive marmite in glass jars..

The guy said he can get lots of products and can even mail

them to you (within Germany). The prices seemed very reasonable.

So heres the contact info. if your not in Frankfurt and can't

swing by.

I was there this morning too :P

I stocked up on some cornflour but I have to admit the selection seems to be a lot less than what it was a few years ago. I wonder if the opening of A Taste of Britain has had anything to do with this?

Not a lot in the way of cereals and no fresh stuff today :(

My local HIT supermarket sells HP sauce, Heinz Tommy K, baked beans, curry paste, lime pickle, mango chutney, naan bread, old el paso fajita mix and salsa, worcester sauce, salt & vinegar crisps and even a couple of Cadbury's chocolate bars.

Plus you don't have to wait an eternity at the checkout like in most German supermarkets.

Now all i need to find is somewhere that sells proper extra mature English cheddar.

Happy days :D

The local REWEs started selling HP Barbecue sauce too, a bit of info for the HP fans out there. :)

Is the Taste of Britain Shop the one a few streets away from the Turmpalast? I only ever managed to work past when it was closed? Is it worth going to?

I usually just try and bring as much back with me as possible when I go to the UK or get friends and relatives to bring the essentials.

Yup... A Taste of Britain is on Oeder Weg, close to the Turm.

It's not bad, has a fair selection of goodies (ie the stuff you miss as opposed to stuff you need) and takes orders...and they will chat to you, so you can ask questions and make suggestions

Thanks! I just had a look on the website.

Can you not get Blu Tack in Germany? I've been here for over 3 years, and I never considered that you couldn't get blu tack!
