Ah Luke.

Glad he had some time with you before he went and that he had been with your brother these past years.

Not an easy time.

Condolences.

Please accept my condolences, Luke.

It is good that you could see him.
I agree, those about to pass away will wait for the people close to them to come.

My Dear Relative did the same thing.

And scattering the ashes in the Mediterranean is such a lovely thing to do, especially of both parents together.

Thanks a lot for your condolences. Appreciated. I聽saw him in March for 4-5 days where he was still more talkative and able to spend some quality time.聽

Manly or unmanly hugs, babe鉂わ笍

You have lost your Dad but the memories will remain and you are stubborn enough to meet again over a beer鉂わ笍鉂わ笍鉂わ笍. Betcha!

@ Luke - so sorry for your loss, but also happy for you that your Father waited to see you again! It麓s something that will stay with you for the rest of your life!

My Mother waited for me to get back to England, and passed away a couple of hours later.

I suspect they often wait for somebody to come who will be able to deal with "things" when they go.

I know it hurts like hell at the time, but it麓s better for them to be able to go on.

Wishing you strength and cyber hugs at this difficult time!

I was in Hamburg when I heard from my brother-in-law that my mum was close to death. Went to Karstadt in Harburg to their travel agent's place and booked a flight that very evening.

At the hospital: brother was in the hospital room ( and he had been there a long time ) and sis had just left the room for a ciggie break.

When my mum gave her final breath, my brother had just fallen asleep. I kissed my mum on her forehead and it was over.

Sis came聽back from her ciggie break.

You only lose your mum once.馃檨

I am glad I made it on time.

I lost my Dad in 2003 and my Mum in 2006. I was fortunate enough to be there with both of them at the end.

They made me who I am today. I will never forget that.

@LukeSkywalker my condolences.

You will hurt. You will grieve. It's a tough road to go down. There's no magic answer.

But in time you will heal.

And then you'll start to remember.

Take care my friend.

So sorry to hear about your Father passing away, my heartfelt condolences.

"It will be the little things that you will remember,

the quiet moments, the smiles and the laughter.

Although it may seem hard right now, it will be the memories of these little things

That help to push away the pain and bring the smiles back again."

聽Sending you a big Yorkshire hug.

I just needed to search my wifes computer for a tax related document, and whilst looking I found a "letter to the grandchildren she will never meet" that she started to write back in September when she got her cancer diagnosis.

I never knew quite how frightened she was and I've been a wreck all morning. I miss her.

It was supposed to be simple- hop on the bus and in 15 minutes be at Nicole's son's place, laden with presents from Crete, including for Nicole's grandson.

I got on the bus and at one stop the electronic sign said " this bus stops here. All passengers please disembark."

So I did - but the bus continued. Ok, can't be far. It was so hot and sweat filled my eyes. I could hardly see where I was going. I phoned the son and also his partner 3 times and sent a message. No answer. I had forgotten the house number.

One hour later:

I got to the correct street but still couldn't remember the house number.

I was at the wrong end of a long street.

Sent a message to Nicole, who gave me the correct house number.

聽Arrived knackered at the building- fourth floor- no lift馃槱.

Got upstairs- 聽" hi, John."

" Wasser sofort, bitte."

It turned out the son's I-Phone was dodgy today and his partner was asleep with the baby.

聽A bit later, " John, I want to invite you to a great Greek restaurant- it's just around the corner."

So - it was at least 10 minutes away and CLOSED.

" No worries, John. Another good one is just around the corner."

10 minutes later ( at least馃槱)- we got there and it was also closed.

So bus to town to a different place. Ate.

Moral of the story- if you are 70 and it is 40 degrees, don't try to make common ground with a 35 year old!馃槀
