Does falling asleep during a Skype chat with a client count?

This just screams TIME TO RETIRE. Good thing you are self employed.

1 week from now we finally fly back to Canada been almost 6 years since we've been there

And in 6 weeks retirement - unbelievable how fast the time went, just seemed like yesterday the paperwork was getting signed but that was nearly 4 years ago!!!

Been retired a while, it is the best time, I still have memories of other happy times from the past too.

Older people were asked some questions, including "what do you regret?"

Not many reported regretting that they had not worked more😉

..

Just cooked some Brussels Sprouts, that alone us a reason to be cheerful.

This evening its fried slices of Kassler, Brussels Sprouts & "Muttis Bratkartoffeln" - the latter being a new speciality of mine...

Our young neighbour asked if we had 3-4 eggs we didn't need to today. So of course!

He just sent a message: " are you still awake? I have made banana bread for you!"

What a lovely young man! ❤️👍

A mix of very unhappy and very happy post.

We live just a few metres from a vast forest and fields. Every time we walk in the forest and the fields, at any time of year, at any time of day,  there is almost no wildlife to see or hear. No bees, butterflies etc on the fields of wildflowers, no usual wild animals or birds to be seen or heard. Almost a dead landscape. Last year, I asked our local NABU chap and Green Party chap why this is the case. The answer was simply that local farmers have been asked to not use Monsanto or similar products though they still can if they wish to.

Our garden is very small. We never use any insecticides, pesticides etc. It is mostly wild and only partly manicured. Much to the annoyance of our neighbours. We’re happy that our bird feeding efforts have attracted so many birds. Today alone I counted more than 10 different species in our hedge and on bird feeders. Thankfully, our cats are elderly and enjoy watching rather than catching.  I’d really urge anyone with any kind of outdoor space that they can help birds and insects with feeding places and regularly cleaned and filled shallow water bowls (add stones to prevent drowning).

I‘m In Colorado spending a month with my 85 yo mom.  She’s got lots of wonderful stories, memories, and family genealogy to share.  I bought her a new iPad and she’s watching her favorite movies galore.  Seeing this famous routine again, one mom’s favorites, always guarantees a very long smile.  😃😃😃

Kiss Me Kate is very enjoyable, and Brush up your Shakespeare is delightful! I'm glad you can visit your mother meaningfully, @BethAnnBitt!

I was only joking! I forgot to mention I will never retire. If Sleepy Joe thinks it's good enough to continue working- same here!😂

After watching someone on Youtube take their tumble dryer apart to replace the defective motor,

I successfully completed the same exercise myself.

  1. get to the motor and check it.
  2. order the new bit (took a few days) machine stays in bits...
  3. fit and test new motor
  4. be happy - AND save 2x €45 / hr (plus tax)
  5. :D

Even ended up with no spare bits or screws left over

Hardest part was finding a video showing the same model of dryer... seems a popular thing to demonstrate

We accept a lot of packages for neighbors because we are retired. Got one 2 days ago and she came yesterday morning to pick it up. Early. I managed to get up and put my robe on and answer the door. I'm sure I looked very lovely. Today, there was a box of chocolates by our door with an apology note for waking us up. Sometimes people are just too nice.

My daughter moved away from home 2 years ago amidst all Covid. Christmas time has been meagre since. This year my husband and I decided to decorate just for us….we’ve got decades old decorations and thought why not just decorate Christmas for us both. Feels nice and looking forward to it being cold enough for Glühwein 😊 🍷 Sadly, this might be the first Christmas my daughter doesn’t come home….happy though that she is spreading her wings and above all, she’s happy.

Be happy that you can FaceTime etc wth her over Chistmas.!  We also have decades old ornaments- which adorn the tree. Some are gifts from friends over the years. Enjoy the Gluehwein!

This sounds a little bit hopeful -

Quote

Iran has scrapped its morality police after more than two months of protests triggered by the arrest of Mahsa Amini for allegedly violating the country's strict female dress code, local media said Sunday.

here

Doesn't mean the normal police won't take over the role. It does seem like the world's condemnation is having an effect.

Qatari fans seen here taking a photograph of Ivana Knoll, to show they "disapprove" (sic) of her outfit.
