Posted 11 May 2006 Sorry if the answer is somewhere already, but nowadays I don't get along with the search function very good anymore *blush* we just have a dish to watch the free channels on 28,2 (or so). On some new found service channel we watched a movie called "sky something" (a silly one actually but oh well) free to air last night and it said it's "sky box office". After the movie ended, the same one started again and later again Did they forget to lock it or what the hell is this? Are there more of this channels with a different movie? :D
Posted 11 May 2006 Sky's Movie Channels.. (About 10 or so no including the HDTV ones) Just something else to waste $$ on... Did they forget to encrypt it? Highly doubtfull, your either paying for it, or there having a freeview day..
Posted 11 May 2006 must have been freeview day then. How should they make us pay for it if we dont even have a sky box?
Posted 12 May 2006 still was free to view last night, still with the same movie over and over again
Posted 12 May 2006 Sky Box Office are the Pay Per View channels (as opposed to the ones included in your subscription). There is a selection of movies available and each will be show on multiple channels with staggered start times. You Pick one that starts at a convenient time and phone up and order it. Apart from the preview channels, they sometimes have some stuff for free to get people used to the idea and more business.
Posted 17 May 2006 If its an older digibox you can get around it by connecting a 9V battery to the modem port to give an engaged tone. Another way is to put some random bullshit number in the "secret" sky service engineer setup menu Press 'Services' Press '4' (system setup) Press '0' then '1' then 'select' (to activate 'secret' menu) Press '3' (telephone settings) Scroll to 'Dialling prefix' Enter a prefix of your choice (NOT 999 or 112, you don't want the fire brigade round your house at 2am!) Scroll to 'Save New Settings' Done! When the box tries to dial sky to bill your account for the movie it gets an engaged tone or wrong number error. On the older boxes it would let you watch the movie, delaying billing until it got through to sky (which it never did because you never connected it to a real phone line, right?). Unfortunately on newer boxes like mine it won't authorise until they can dial through to sky. Bastards.
Posted 17 May 2006 On the older boxes it would let you watch the movie, delaying billing until it got through to sky (which it never did because you never connected it to a real phone line, right?). But only until you reached an internal credit limit set on the card of £5 - usually 2 movies or less...
Posted 17 May 2006 I have heard that it is possible to use a card reader to read and save the original card image before doing this... then when your credit limit is reached, you write the original card image back to the card...
Posted 18 May 2006 Then you heard wrong... Don't you think if it were possible to clone a sky card that many people would be doing it instead of haveing to actually subscribe to get one... A Sky card is not a normal smartcard. It's a very smal computer on a chip, while a normal smartcard is just a kinda memory storage.
