Have you been drinking?  Sorry this post is a cock-up.  Sorry.  Steve Rosenburg is Moscow correspondent for BBC.  And plays piano.  He is a good follow on Twitter.  He has lived in Russia a long time and is married to a Russian.  No lightweight.  He has done interviews in Russia with people like Lukashenko.  But back to the music.

Portugal: upbeat, but I think I've heard the melody somewhere, so maybe not original?

I quite liked France, Cyprus is a bit generic.

I liked Sweden's song, the performance not so much.

Norway had a great show, not a fan of the singer, though.

I had a show, so I only saw most of the songs in the short form.

Cha Cha Cha!

Yes, Finland with "Cha Cha Cha" was my favourite: https://www.eurovision.de/videos/2023/finnland1044-ardplayer.html
They also got the most points from the general public, 376 points: https://www.eurovision.de/news/ESC-Finale-2023-Alle-Ergebnisse-Platzierungen-und-Punkte,punkteverteilung156.html

The 2023 Swedish winning song "Tattoo" only got 243 points from the general public and sounded (at least to me) similar to Loreen's last winning song in 2012 "Euphoria": https://www.eurovision.de/videos/Der-ESC-Siegertitel-2012-Euphoria-von-Loreen,esc1323.html

I think that the Eurovision Song Contest (sic) should be more like The Oscars; as most of the participants needed a good slap.

another side effect of corona is that everyone has forgotten how to sing...

It's funny there are really quite poor songs which the panel scores highly and the public give hardly any points to.

Was better when they awarded the top 3 from the panel, rather than just the top position.

Was easier to see all the 'alike' countries voted for one another ;)

Finland won the public vote by more than 2:1 over Sweden, yet Sweden got more than 2:1 more panel votes.

I am sure in not being alone in thinking the outcome is often pre-arranged.
