His Majesty has suggested that his Subjects do unpaid voluntary work to mark the occasion.

I did two hours voluntary work today, and a couple hours Tuesday too!

What is my reward?🙃

After your two hours' voluntary work you get to eat your slice of veggy quiche and recite the "Homage of the People."

Puke.

The Guardian has an article about the ceremony likening it to an encounter with a Triceratops 🦖

The new tradition, revealed on Sunday, will involve those watching the coronation on television, online and in parks and pubs being encouraged to swear aloud their allegiance to the monarch in a “chorus of millions of voices”.

They will be invited to say the words: “I swear that I will pay true allegiance to your majesty, and to your heirs and successors according to law. So help me God.” The declaration replaces the traditional homage of peers

Nobody's crazy enough to actually do that surely?

Admittedly I did swear allegiance to the Queen in the Cub Scouts some time in the late 70s. So they've probably still got me.

I don t think it means you will be laying down your life for king and country. The monarchy is symbolic. Swearing allegiance, as so many did aged 7 in brownie uniform, is also symbolic. If people want the vibe of feeling included in a thing bigger than themselves, why not ?

I won t be doing it but each to his own.

More creepy authoritarian leaning stuff like the all new national conservatism. I hope the liberal democrats (the people not the party) in the UK can effectively mobilise to prevent this slipping into something worse.

If King Charles does not suit as a Leitfigur/Leading Personality, may I suggest Donald Trump, he just landed at Aberdeen to inspect his golf courses.

Perhaps he should spend more time on golf and less on politics🙃
