Thanks LeonG, I will have to see what they say in Greece if and when I apply to cross over. I just looked it up and in Greece it is simply a fine, so I would just have to pay more money I believe, if they do ask...

I don't think they can fine you in Greece for something you did in Germany and already got fined for in Germany.

I do not think I will ever need a German license, I just need to be able to cross the country every now and then.

What destination do you have which you can only get to by crossing Germany? Can't you simply cross through France, Switzerland and Austria, thereby avoiding German soil?

That is great ! Makes me feel a lot safer about telling the Greeks. I would have been surprised if they fined me.

I will keep this thread updated until the very end so I will let everyone now what they needed / asked...

Everyone drives through Germany. No road tolls.

As Fraufruit said, the tolls going south around Germany is hundreds of euros... Vignettes etc...

Plus to be able to visit Germany by vehicle. I have a campervan so it is the most pertinent way for me to visit...

Also Denmark and around the Baltic sea :)

Re: MPU - You also have to take it if you want to get a gun license (sport shooting or hunting) and you are under 25. I know someone who took it and said he had a lot of fun and it was extremely easy.

The MPU tests for a gun licence are not the same as the procedure when you have been caught drunk/drug driving.

Good point to remember there :

If it's a driving test, you're supposed to avoid all the deer and not kill them...

Thanks for the info. I was made to understand that they are mostly the same but with some variation in the details. I have never met someone who admitted to having to take one for drunk driving.

I have.  Prolonged abstinence with blood and hair tests as appropriate.  Other bits must might be more similar.  Not me, but friends.
