Writing Google review on behalf of Wife

9 posts in this topic

hi all,

Last year my wife had a very bad experience from a driving school. Eventually she changed her driving school and finished her driving license from another school. On the behalf of my wife I wrote my honest opinion about the first driving school on google. As I have thought, we were not first victims there were few others as well and rating of this driving schools has come down. Lot of other people are writing their experience now.

Yesterday I got long email from google, summary is I cannot write review as I was not student at school. On legal grounds I have no idea. So, my question is, can I write google review on behalf of my wife?

In my point of view YES, as she is my family, and I was also affected financially and mentally when driving school has terminated her contract.

best

I can’t comment on your situation as spouse in this matter. However, I’ve heard of quite a few local businesses being very badly affected by instantaneous negative google, tripadvisor etc reviews.

These reviews can be damaging for businesses for a long time. In this day and age, do people with complaints usually raise their issues with the business owner directly? Most business owners would seek to find solutions and/or compromise? Direct online reviews can be unfair without previous discussion with a company’s management.  True service must be judged on a company’s ability to resolve disputes/complaints. And no, I don’t have a business hence not affected by reviews!

A glowing review for the second driving school explaining she had been disappointed by a nearby alternative (without naming it) could be useful for people looking for driving lessons in the area.   Naming the actual good instructor too:  they can vary within a company.  She can go to town on why the other place was crap, do not hold back.  The original place will read it too.  And she can go to town detailing how the original was rubbish.

Forgetting what is legal and what it isn't, it is very strange that it must be you and nor your wife writing the review.

It takes a couple of minutes, tops, to make an account.   It is just a Google rule.  You could try suing them, I guess.

Because google accounts are assigned to individuals, not families.
