The return of the sleeper train in Europe

I have just tried to book Bonn Beuel to Wien next week.  Once again no problems.  I also cannot see any stops at Kölln Hbf or Bonn Hbf on the NJ40421.

If you go on the Nightjet website, you'll see this:

Edit, which is because I'd left the date on today.  From March 1st through 30th it stops at Bonn Beuel, after that it's Bonn Hbf and changing periodically.

...and this is what I get if I try to book at least part of it from the NJ website. That's why I was wondering if it sells out months in advance.

You can get a couch on March 7th.  Sold out on the 9th.  Couch again on the 11th and a bed on the 13th if you look that far.

Your town of choice seems to be closer to Innsbruck than Vienna but the Innsbruck train doesn't run every day, looks like on the 7th and 11th.

I am getting a "comfort" seat only with DB on the 9th... not that it would be much fun.  I have done overnight sitting, when children were small, as very long day journeys can be even worse.

Sold out on the 9th.

Yeah, I was just looking at other dates/routes, and I think it is just the case that they sell out pretty quickly and there was no availability. It also seems to be easier to book on the more significant routes (Cologne to Zurich for example), rather than the ones I was looking at from Bonn to pretty alpine/CZ villages.

Still, for the CZ trip, I managed to get return first class seats on the daytime train for under 100 euros, which is way less than diesel, and leaves plenty spare for a hotel to get a decent night's sleep on arrival.

Thanks for looking anyway.

A bit in the Köln Express today about the night trains stopping in Cologne from 26th May:

Nachtzug Köln-Innsbruck:

Depending on the prices a trip later on this year could be on the cards.

I was very interested in taking a night train from Munich to Sylt but it looks like the Alpen-Sylt NachtExpress is not operating this year. Anybody know if there is an alternative night train service?
