Twitter was a bloated company. Problem is, it's being done at Tesla's expense.

No doubt about your first comment, but has SpaceX, Semi, Cybertruck, Neuralink, Boring suffered as well...or just the cars because people hear Tesla and think "cars"?

As a side note, Amazon is laying off 18,000 mostly tech workers. Facebook 11,000, Cisco 4,100, Salesforce 8,000, German MAN 9,500   Where's the outrage; the hand-wringing?  Hypocrites.

I have no Tesla shares (I am too lazy to invest in individual shares) but I really hope they stay the course for the sake of the Berlin-Brandenburg region. They have the capacity to make the area a hub for EV development and production. If Tesla were to fold or close the operation here it would be a real shame.

Gee, what fantastic insight access you have.  Can you share your source?  Can you do investor profiles on other stockholders?

Uncountable hours wasted in Twitter.

These are Tesla products, and yes people have been selling shares in them

Neuralink, Boring

These companies have no products, they just research at the moment

suffered as well...or just the cars because people hear Tesla and think "cars"?

Autopilot

Autopilot advanced safety and convenience features are designed to assist you with the most burdensome parts of driving. Autopilot introduces new features and improves existing functionality to make your Tesla safer and more capable over time.

Autopilot enables your car to steer, accelerate and brake automatically within its lane.

Current Autopilot features require active driver supervision and do not make the vehicle autonomous.

We all know people who think the car is going to drive itself without supervision are fucking idiots but that you can´t see that calling it autopilot contributes to people's idiocy is laughable. Also chucking in full self-driving doesn´t help.

Lol, you apparently don´t read anything unless it´s about Musk.

Also, I don´t recall those companies claiming they want to bring free speech back, going full-on conspiracy theory lovers, releasing the "Twitter files" but only selectively releasing them and only to 1 journalist.

SpaceX actually had an issue with Elon's tweets! SpaceX CEO, Shotwell, got asked by NASA if Elon was going nuts, and how this would impact further cooperation. I think she and some bankers are the reason why Elon is now calmer on Twitter...

Tesla drops prices between 5 and 13% in China. They are back to January 2021 values, just a tad below. This was expected even before Twitter saga. Prices in Europe remain high, but I suspect a 2-3k drop within 3 months. And in some countries, even more. As a reminder, the cheapest Tesla is currently 9000€ more expensive than 1.5 years ago, this has to drop.

In US I suspect prices will remain the same, as now the $7.500 tax rebate kicks in.

Considering BYD is coming to Europe this year with three models and the smaller one is a crossover starting at 38.000 EUR, things will become interesting.

Saw this article on BYD this morning.

From the same article:

"Meanwhile, Tesla sold over 1.3 million fully-electric cars globally — Elon Musk’s EV company doesn’t disclose specific figures for China alone — which is ahead of EV figures from BYD by over 400,000 cars, but behind BYD’s figures overall.

That technically makes BYD the largest EV maker in the world, but the catch is that it’s not the straightforward comparison implied by calling BYD the “biggest EV maker in the world,” since rival Tesla doesn’t sell plug-in hybrids."

I don't think anyone who flies thinks that when an airplane is on autopilot, that there are no pilots in their seats...and that's within a highly regulated airspace; not to mention no pedestrians or other obstacles.

" However, the autopilot is only a system on the aircraft and is prone to errors and malfunctions so the flight crew will have to monitor it actively throughout the flight for any unexpected deviation. "

Given what airplanes do and what Tesla does, autopilot is the correct term.

" Autopilot is an advanced driver assistance system that enhances safety and convenience behind the wheel. "

I thought that was clear.

just additional clarification...We'll see what the stats become as Berlin and Austin come up to speed as well as Shanghai.

It also puts a thumb on the scale when your banker happens to be the Chinese government.

I think also prices should drop, but its tricky for people who just bought the car or are still waiting. I am waiting for Model-Y since June 22 and now I feel it should get delay till March and may be I get it on reduced price.

Want my advice? Wait a couple of months. Also newer Model Y from Berlin (if that's your model) are about to come with improved battery, suspension, etc.

Yeah would like to wait, but the problem is that if Tesla calls up and assign me a car, I have to take it. If I say No, I lose the 2K BAFA subsidy which is reduced from 2023 and Tesla agrees to pay that.

However, I am just hoping that they don't assign me any car till March. In case, I say NO to Tesla and wait for 3-4 months, I think I can recover the BAFA subsidy as the prices will drop.

I also suspect that there might be a few changes coming in and I hope they can fix this USS fuck up which they did to newer models.

Until now BYD was selling cars only in China but in 2023 they are expanding to 40 countries around the world.  Some people predicted that BYD would be the biggest (pure) EV car in some years, maybe 2027-2028, but this expansion, and specially that they are coming to Europe this year was unexpected and some people think the BYD dominance might happen much faster.

The other thing is that the Tesla Y made in Berlin will soon start using the "Blade" battery provided by BYD.   This is a major surprise, because most people were expecting that Tesla would start providing batteries and drivetrains to other companies, but it is the opposite.

BYD "Blade" battery is AFAIK the only one that passes the nail penetration test, the battery is pierced with a nail and it is the only battery that does not explode in flames.   So this is a good option for people who are scared of driving with massive lithium batteries under them.

This is a major surprise,

In June-July last year reports in many different Chinese media sources stated that Tesla was in talks with BYD for the use of its advanced "Blade" batteries.

No, Tesla is currently battery constrained and will take any battery they can. The batteries they can offer in the future are for high performance cars, like Model S, Semi and Cybertruck. AFAIK, buying batteries from BYD was already talked many months ago.

100% agree. The latest SW update seems to indicate some kind of SW compensation for it (from my personal observation) but I dont see a replacement for USS.

By the way, which weird configuration did you choose to have been waiting for so long?
