Due to the unfortunate popularity of this topic elsewhere on TT and the ongoing life of this subject, I am introducing a specific topic dealing with Tesla and its effect on Germany and the EU.

I was kind of missing reading Tesla thread and updates :-)

 

The deliveries in Germany are still not up to the mark. There is a lot of backlog for Model-Y. People like me who were supposed to get a car in September are still waiting and it looks like it will be dragged to 2023 now.

Semi first deliveries happened yesterday for Pepsi.

Highlights is it can do a fully loaded trip of 500 miles in one charge. That's quite impressive.

 

Battery size not revealed, but very close to 1MWh. New supercharger with 1MW of power per cable, and with battery packs and solar panels to ensure power is available.

Cybertruck "might" come with 1MW possibility too.

Both sides of the roof of my house (East and West) are fully covered by PV modules, apart from the roof windows.

Average summer, autumn and spring, and winter production are 34, 18, and 3 kWh/day.

Have fun with a 1000 kWh battery.

You just need many more, and facing south. Economy of scale. There will be plenty of space on warehouse rooftops.

You don't need full autonomy, just enough for cost savings and not to stop if the grid goes offline.

How big is this vehicle?

29 modules take ca 50m2 and produce 3 and 34 kWh/day in winter and summer.

I'm all in favor of PV, but we shouldn't oversell it.

1MWh. Remember that most of US  trade routes are in areas with lots of sunshine.

It's clear it will be cheaper to produce it and store it than to buy it from grid in most places. If the warehouse rooftop is the limiting factor, they can still general a couple of MWh per day in the winter.

For those who doubt Elon's abilities, Neuralink has just made a big announcement.  All kinds of links.  Literally.

I'm slowly watching the Neuralink presentation at lunch with my wife. Human trials perhaps next year. Possible cure for many types of physical disability.

I can follow the technical discusion quite well. I understand most of it, except the part of connection to different brain parts, as I can't understand the long term health implications for it.

What I understand is they get 1024 different realtime signals, they apply machine learning to it (Tesla tech) and get understandable output from it. I also guess this is not a static trained network, it will retrain over time, to accomodate the brain's change.

I know there are competing teams with interesting results, but they seem stuck without a full scale path forward and they don't have the machine learning expertise as Tesla.

Yes because of course we know Elon is personally responsible for all the tech and engineering that went into this.

 

Shame the godman has been distracted by having to save Twitter for the good of humankind the last few weeks or I´m sure he´d have solved world hunger by now as well.

I can imagine something along the lines of consciousness transfer. If you leave all the religious mumbo jumbo out of the equation and you are able to scan the exact positions of the chemicals and sugars that make up a brain and replicate it in a neural net, then why not?

They are very clear on their initial approach: human output throughput is the main barrier and easiest to solve

This is a straightforward goal and doable within a couple of years.

This could enable first communication interfaces, but very quickly motorized control of exoskeleton interfaces.

I like this. Simple goal, reachable within 2 years.

He actually reached Mercedes a few years ago. Mercedes would buy battery, power train and software from Tesla. Mercedes refused it.

Amazon has ordered 100,000 rivian vans already, and some are on the roads already
