Posted 8 Nov 2022 I think there are a few contenders these days since certain people have made themselves scarce. I see a lot more helpful and thoughtful posts.

We bought one last week off the back of this thread and it's simply amazing how fast things cook compared to in the oven. Baked vegetables especially. We haven't even tried the air fryer function yet, just the bake & roast ones.
Posted 8 Nov 2022 Conventional ovens are installed in kitchens without any thought. I regret having one. Almost never use it. Apart from storage space . The combi grill-oven-airfryer is the perfect space, money and energy saving device.

So it looks like we have room for one after all. A big thank you for the tip. I purchased one and am loving it, all the naughty taste of deep fried food but none of the smelly old fat
Posted 12 Nov 2022 You're welcome. Care to share exactly what you are cooking that is so good, please?
Posted 12 Nov 2022 At the moment just basic stuff, chicken tempura, potatoes wedges, curly fries and today, I'm going to give a Gustavo Gusto pizza a whirl. In future I will be doing some more adventurous stuff, there's an air fryer salmon recipe, "salmon fillets cook beautifully in an air fryer and make a delicious meal when coated in a herb seasoning and served with greens and grains" I want to try here: https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/air-fryer-salmon
Posted 12 Nov 2022 Thanks. I have 2 of those pizzas in the freezer. They don't fit on the basket so will you just air fry one on the normal oven rack? Seems just as easy to bake them.
Posted 12 Nov 2022 On the rack and you are supposed to rotate them halfway through. I think they are supposed to turn out better air fried but time will tell and you save energy.
Posted 12 Nov 2022 Thanks again. We will have one for dinner. Himself was very ambitious yesterday and made duck breast sous vide with Kartoffelknödel and green beans.

Sounds amazing- Ultimate food experience! I am still thinking about instant pots- will I really use one, or just stick to my Le Creuset?!
Posted 12 Nov 2022 What would you cook in an instant pot that you can't cook now in your Le Creuset, pressure cooker etc.? They are pretty big.

I was thinking of time factor, but oven casseroles are comforting! Space is a factor, plus I tend to lose interest in dragging out appliances. But the air fryer sounds interesting.
Posted 12 Nov 2022 Mine does it all, one of the Ninja devices Ninja Foodi MAX Multikocher [OP500EU] Gebürsteter Edelstahl, keramikbeschichtete Kochtöpfe, Stahl/Schwarz and we don't use the oven anymore. It's brilliant. You can pressure cook a stew, and then top it with something and grill/airfry it without having to move anything about.

However, I´m missing a system which allows you to have the contents permanently stirred while cooking to avoid it sticking to the bottom and getting burnt. Something which happens easily when pressure-cooking, in my unfortunate experience.

As a matter of fact, he just re-learned that last week. Nothing else ever sticks. Are you using flour? We weren't happy with the air fryer pizza. It was cooked unevenly even though he rotated it half way. We will stick with the oven for those.

Shame the pizza didn't work out, but I think with something like this, there is a lot of trial and error. I'll post of any successes / failures.

Why can´t they offer a system like you have it in labs where there is a magnetic stick, coated with silicone, turning at the bottom of your pot? Of course, you´d need a turning magnet built into the oven for that to work. It exists, just not for household purposes.
Posted 13 Nov 2022 I make the rice separate in a rice cooker and add it later. Never had the problem with meat.
