Why new 'discount' food shops?

Perhaps the old stores are very uneconomical and un-environmentally friendly to run. Things move on you know.

The new store uses less energy per m2 but it is bigger, so it does not use less. Instead of windows the lights are on all day even in summer. Today in another store the aircon temperature was strikingly cool, wasting more energy and money, in the end our money.

What did the new store cost, a million or more? We dummies shall be financing that for the next twenty years. It would have been better to upgrade the old store and drop the price$!

If only governments could rule with an autocratic hand; better yet a single person, like yourself, controlling all walks of life.  Ah, the good old days.

You know I totally agree with your sentiment. As if stores renovate to be environmentally friendly. They renovate to make money. Anyhow, this thread is a good example on why I believe human kind is fucked. The nature is dying in front of our eyes and people can only talk about their freedom, their choices, how they don't want to be inconvenienced. Sad truth is that even parents aren't ready to sacrifice an inch of their consumer lifestyle. To ne that shows that we have reached the end.

An apartment in Munich costs a million or more. Get a grip.

The lights are one in all the stores I shop in all day long. They put a lot of Werbung over the windows.

Perhaps industrial revolution should have been prevented or sabotaged. That's the most evil thing humans have ever done , letting most of  us live beyond 30. The aholes who want new shops , who tries to cheat gods plan by taking medications , using qtips instead of hen feathers and what not

I think I have puzzled out how the new stores are financed. The law requires prices per Kg or Liter to be shown.

Saw a very small kiddysurprise egg at the till in another store where a child could grab it. Price per Kg: €139!

Good news? One of the new stores is closing!😃 But only for a couple days, to "improve" the displays😕

I think the food stores are trying to outdo each other. Perhaps the experts in the Expansionsabteilung/Expansion department do not realise that "you can only eat one steak" and that the relatively elderly population here is DECLINING! Time to stop expanding, and to stop chasing away customers with a "new light and color concept" 😕

I shall be continuing my boycott. Took my empty drinks containers to the new store. Got a substantial refund. Bought nothing.
