Oh yes, Ed Bob rolled on quite a while ago...

I would politely urge that Toytown list the moderators and how to contact them, the way other forums do.

I'm laughing, too, because the mods are nicely hidden here. Let's all call and email the Local about this, as another meetup has left the forum!

AFAIK, the meetup organizers are leaving the forum because almost nobody signs up on TT any more. Meetup.com works a lot better and is less work than putting them on both fora and trying to keep up. Why do you think the Loco has anything to do with it?

This is how conspiracy theories get started. People make up stuff.

The Local OWNS Toytown (Bob sold it to them), so I'm writing them about this.

Please do so as well. Tell them they are losing advertising income.

Whatever. I don't blame the Loco for organizers finding a better way to get people together. Most of them and the attendees don't read or post on TT anyway.

Times are changing.

I have no interest in contacting mods or getting involved in the drama. Thanks.

I'm not privy to their advertising revenue figures, either, and don't care.

Whatever.

I just don't like the power games the invisible mods are playing here and have written to The Local.

One imagines that an internut forum needs attention, like a machine, otherwise it would stop working, so I guess someone is doing maintenance.

..

There are problems elsewhere with over-zealous moderators.

In sport, football or boxing, the referee is strictly impartial, as long as she is wearing her spectacles😉 But on many forums, moderators are field players too. Might be unwise to disagree with a moderator.

Who moderates the moderators?

Care to elaborate?

I report shills, etc. that the bots don't catch and their posts get removed. Somebody is doing their job.

ETA- And I've been thanked for it.

Some valid points. From my 25 year experience elsewhere.

Absolutely. Members flagging up software glitches is very important to the *Admin/Mod team

Again, I agree, but not on a forum that has an identity.

Spot on. I was there 5 years, built a rep as a responsible poster, someone stepped down, and I was offered the role. 99% of the time I'm still a field player.

It's actually flagged up in our rules page. If a mod is talking to a member in their official capacity, they will know. The colour red is involved.

I didn't respond to the "who moderates the moderators" comment, as the forum I'm on, is pretty much self-moderating by the long term members.

*Admin/Mod team: A list of Admin/Mods openly published on the forum that members can contact with any issues, questions or concerns.

You can't find those links without having the exact URL!

Also, the staff list is incorrect AFAIK, Bob no longer is a mod / admin, I doubt Dessa is.All the other staff listed seems to be The Local accounts (Swedish interns?).

Other TTers call themselves moderators in their descriptions, but they aren't.

+ the ones you can find like the wiki page and the now removed link to the 'moderation team' page at the bottom of the forum index don't work anymore.

It is very clear that this is a policy decision and we should just give up.

The powers that be don't want to be contacted (probably because of the amount of abuse they receive).

Let them get on with whatever they believe their job is and just move on to a different forum if their policies no-longer suit your needs. That seems to have been what a lot of people are doing.

TT is dying, let it die in dignity.

Did you not get a reply from the Local, @Metall? You said you had written them.

No reply.

Well, if The Local wants to run Toytown into the ground, then let them. Any ideas for another chat forum? We already have meetup.com for Curry Night and Saturday night dinner.

Maybe they want to switch to a none named teem of moderators, faceless ones.

They seem to react when I report stuff, but you never get to know who is doing it.

I checked @  Dessa , profile, seems she was active on the 17th of Jan this year, maybe she is doing it, but in a low profile mode.
