There is little chance of Putin being "ousted" in any way we, in the West, would hope for.   I do despair when I meet even educated Russians who are convinced that the war in Ukraine is justified.  

 

An awful thought is: could it actually be worse, when he is finally gone?

I would tend to think, he can go on another 10 or 20 years, so what should the rest of the world do ??, it is damaging the economies of the country's that have placed sanctions on Russia should we carry on this policy for as long the Ukrainians still fight or for the rest of Putin's life ?? 

 

I would say keep the sanctions until Putin goes, but I am very angry with Putin and his war at the moment

If Ukrainians resisted the German invasion in 1939 and 1941, your country would be destroyed much earlier, the WWII would have ended at the end of 1941, with less loss of life on both sides. 

 

The stupidity of Stalin who killed the most competent generals, as well as repressions, lowered morale so that Germans were able to take the whole of Ukraine. Ukrainians only knew Kaiser Austria, so German occupation must not have been worse, right? 

 

This was a huge mistake.

Nobody wants their country to be turned to rubble, but some things are worth fighting for. Nazi ideology is not one, so your comparison is worthless.

 

Nobody is going to argue that Nazi Germany should have kept fighting.

You may not even have to wait that long. In 2025 Trump may become president again. Then the 3 most important leaders running the show would be Putin, Xi and Trump. Wish us luck then, we'll need it.

I actually completely agree with you. Someone should really just stop Johnson talking in public.

 

However the damage Merkel has done to Germany and the EU is insignificant compared to Brexit.

"Everything that we take away from the Russian army, we transfer to the armed forces of Ukraine."

Last week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy joked that Russia had become a major arms supplier to Ukraine because so much of its equipment had been captured by Ukrainian forces.

"We take trophies and use them to protect Ukraine," Zelenskyy said a video address. "Today, Russian troops are, in fact, one of the suppliers of equipment to our army."

Ukraine's Armed Forces said Monday that Russian troops had lost 498 tanks, 121 helicopters, and 1,535 armored personnel carriers since the start of the conflict on February 24. The figures have not been verified.

Boris Romanchenko was a survivor of Buchenwald, Bergen-Belsen and other Nazi concentration camps.

On March 18, he was killed at age 96 when Russia shelled his apartment building in Kharkiv, Ukraine.

He survived one fascist regime, only to be killed by another.
