Very painful if you bought a Tesla S Plaid, Tesla S, Tesla X or Tesla Y last year. In that order of pain.

" It doesn't make any more sense than me telling you to spend money you don't have."

Here you have hit the exact point.
Everyone knows about TCO.
But some people never come down from their ivory towers and advise someone who spent 15k on a Fiesta to spend 40k on an EV instead because the TC
O is much better and could make the difference in buying price up over time.
There´s a thing called the Vimes boot theory and certain people cannot relate to it because in their world no such thing as poor people exist.

There´s a world of difference between advising someone who is going to spend 40k on a Daimler ICE car to buy an EV instead for the same price or a little bit more because of TCO than there is on telling someone to spend 25k more because of TCO and being utterly unable to fathom that some people don´t have 40k in the first place.
Yes the TCO on a Tesla is probably better than the TCO on a car 15k cheaper but fucking hell.

And the year before those Tesla buyers were all giddy with the price appreciation of their used cars. Classic market timing ;-) The very best thing is to drive any car for a long time and ignore the noise - with the implication that the resell price needs to be a minor factor in the TCO computation.

What I don't like is when sellers put a gun to my head and force me to buy something against my will.

What I don´t like is a post that seems to have absolutely no relevance to any other posts.

I'll try to dumb it down in the future.

I had assumed that came naturally to you, but if you can dumb your posts down even more than they are already then I salute you Sir for overcoming what I thought was an insurmountable obstacle.

Interesting drive technology also in development in Korea:

There's a lot of scope for "traditional" engineering companies with an actual automotive heritage to improve on the EV. It's not all about the battery and software.

Seems like an optimization for certain vehicle types. But definitely doesn't seem targeted to cheap EVs. 2 or 4 motors will be more expensive than 1 or 2 motors.

Looks like optimization for space, in exchange for cost. They claim higher transmission efficiency, but it's possible it has lower overall efficiency.
I also read some comments it's probably not so comfortable (vibration), as more weight moves up and down. Another concern is durability.

Most likely a niche application. Let's see, good that traditional OEMs are waking up for changing something. Hyundai is still on my OEM survival list.
