What are you paying these days for a meal at your favorite restaurant(s)? 

 

Thought it would be interesting to get a sampling of prices in different places around Germany.

Favorite restaurants? You don't want to know.

 

We have only been out to eat about 6 times in the last 2 yrs. At the local Bavarian, it can be around €35 with tip and more if we have more drinks just for the 2 of us.

 

Easy to spend around € 100 in a nice restaurant with wine.

At my local Italian in Munich, I pay €14 for a too large Pizza Quattro Formaggi from a wooden oven (best quality). At the Vietnamese I pay €15 for a main meal and €13 for a double burger at my local burger place. €20-25 for a real Wienerschnitzel or deer gulash at a Bavarian restaurant. Add €4- 5 for a Weißbier.

Last time I ate Vietnamese it was chicken and noodles for 5€.  Last pizza was 7.50€.  Last time I went to a nice restaurant was probably before covid.

I had one of the nicest meals in ages in a Turkish restaurant in Porz, Cologne, a couple of weeks ago. Big plate of Falafel, mixed salad and proper, thick cut chips for 7,50€.

Sounds like a small box you get at an imbiss in a central station, not exactly your favourite restaurant 👻.

Maybe it's not your favourite restaurant but definitely one of mine.  it's a big portion though.  Maybe it's not real chicken or real noodles or whatever but it's good :)

Our local Chinese restaurant does a brilliant vegetable noodle thing for 3.50 which comes in a cardboard container, pleasing the ecokids, pleasing me because it's takeout and I have no wish to eat anywhere where there are other people, and pleasing my wallet too.

It's definitely an exception though, and not necessarily what the OP was getting at.

Depends on how much you drink. I find the drinks to be the most expensive, as Frau Fruit says, depends if you have a nice glass of wine.

I normally always order a bottle of water as well as my favourite beverage. If I am lucky not to have to drive then it is more expensive as I treat myself to maybe a cocktail or two

At my favourite restaurant, we normally pay around 50 euros for two of us. If we have a starter or a dessert it can bump the price up. If it is an extra special night it can go up to 100 euro.

Each summer (unless covid is stopping me) I make sure to have Schäufele with Sauerkraut, delicious gravy and potatoe dumpling for around €10  in the beergarden of Gasthof Schiller in Wernsdorf. One of the few times a year I forget that I'm trying to become vegetarian.

I usually go for lunch in restaurants in the city centre in former East Germany and I usually pay between 5.50 e.g. for a chickpea and potato curry and 9 euro e.g. for Bun Bo Nam Bo or a falafel plate.

 

I'm not sure how you define restaurants though; maybe these are bistros rather than restaurants i.e. usually I order at the counter and they don't have tablecloths.

 

I have noticed that prices in quite a few places have gone up in the New Year e.g. a nice Thai-style vegetable curry that was 5.50 last year is now 6.50.

In the UK eateries have to display hygiene ratings, does that apply in Germany?

In a restaurant you have a waiter/waitress who takes your order at the table. Tables usually have tablecloth and glasses.

 

In comparison to the Netherlands restaurants are quite cheap in Germany even after the price hike due to Covid.
