Sweden, where there were no mask mandates and no lockdowns? Inspite of that, the published Covid deaths have been some of the lowest reported in the western world.

Going back over very old ground on that chestnut but from memory Sweden has a death rate (deaths per million population) that is more than 5 times that of its Scandinavian neighbours. Not a good example!

Was curious about how Sweden was doing. The comparison with its neighbours is interesting.61c49ead346f3_Screenshot2021-12-23at17-0

Couldn't care less about disabling the quote function, before the stay at home keyboard warriors jump on it.

Tonight we overtook Marienplatz, we are the people. Das Volk. People even in restaurants came out to applaud us. The protest even included vaxinated but who have concerns for their children and the constant cycle of boosters.

So tell us how it was, all I could find so far on the news is that the demo was cancelled by the organisers because it would only have been permitted on the Theresienwiese. I did hear that some protesters were advised to go the the city centre and do some shopping so they could claim they were not actually demonstrating, though that sounds to me like a capitalist retailer plot to get the would be demonstrators to spend some money.

The same people who by a 61% majority wish for mandatory vaccinations?

So we all get to pay all those police their overtime.

As if omicron numbers weren't already going up fast enough-another super spreader event.

Lose lose.

See you guys in the hospital, being triaged and and not getting a respirator.

Vaccinated people enjoying their warm meals in restaurants masking up and going outside to cheer them on.

Jeffo will take "Things that didn't happen for $800, Alex."

Give it a bit of time and a worsening situation and they will be coming out to throw things at the protesters.

Just watched a report by DW, it showed people marching down the kaufinger str, when stopped by the police they said that they were not part of any movement, they were just out for a walk !!!  All of them at the same time

The problem with that is: how about triaging for someone who has had a couple of drinks and has an accident and someone who has drunk only tea and has an accident?

Or, for example , an obese person who gets very ill (eg diabetes) and needs hospitalisation versus someone who has the perfect BMI, eats healthily and moderately etc and still ends up in hospital with a serious illness?

Etc etc... where does that lead to? A perfect moral dilemma.

Let us not divide to rule...

There was no triaging in hospitals before corona as far as I know. Maybe in the UK.

Now healthy people with normal sudden serious illnesses like heart attacks and cancer are being turned away and denied treatments for which they normally would have gotten treated.

You sound like one of those "schlank and schön" Germans now.

Official figures for 2020:
Average ICU occupancy by Covid patients - 4% of all ICU beds
Average all bed occupancy by Covid patients - 2% of all beds

It will be interesting to see the official report for this year.

A police spokesperson explained that illegal demos with hundreds of participants were 'Ordnungswidrigkeiten', (minor infringements), comparable to illegal parking. I guess that explains why they do next to nothing, the same way they treat illegal parking. A police officer explained to me why she tolerated illegal parking: "wir lassen fuenf mal gerade sein*", a plausible translation might be: "we close all three eyes".

* 'we treat five as an even number'!!
