Beer

Remember, it's American statesman Benjamin Franklin who's credited with saying, 'Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.' Let's all raise our glasses, to Ben, God, or both!

Got my booster shot yesterday and, apart from a sore arm, everything seems fine :D

Did a 70km round trip in filthy weather to play our Alphorns at a winter market. When we arrived another more local group was already playing. Gazumped. Guess they need the money more than we do. It was freezing anyway and next to no public. So I treated the driver to a slap up gourmet meal in a restaurant. The Xmas beer was absolutely extraordinary. The foie gras pretty good indeed. The butter noodles something else. Yummy, hummy.

I will be sending the bill to the organisers and hope that in my next post I will be able to say they sent me a chèque for same. If not, see you on the vent thread.

I can say, hand on heart, that with two very minor exceptions, I never had a financial debt. I would be in Mr. Micawber's goodest books. And I always slept easy on that score.

Have found a decent Indian take away 3 minutes' walk from the office👍

How did I miss it till now?😩😀

Got an appointment for an eye check Monday👍👍

Dogs no problem on buses and in taxis🐶

We are basically in pretty good health. Nothing is more important.

Haven't fallen down the spiral staircase from the third floor Altbau office yet!😂

Oh, and I have truly missed the wonderful bread in Germany!❤️ 8 years' abstinence.

No longer!!

So i rescued some ancient sheet music from hitting the skip. Spent hours sifting through it, removing grotty, musty covers, putting it in order. 64 dances of yore. Historical stuff. Buddy has played them all this morning and tells me they are really cool. We just need to get our other buddies to play the other parts.

Brilliant :)

The concert is on. It will be unusual. Cough. Fortunately I still have that wicked northern life saving sense of humour. So I am in for quite a laugh.

Dunno how the locals will cope.

Today I will cut my losses with this bunch after the last note of the encore and move on

Lunch was excellent by the way.

Start your own musical group!

I moved on from a cover band where I could not develop musically, song writing was impossible although demanded, bullies ran the show... in my new band I'm well regarded, have helped others grow, and written several songs already.

I m sure you re right but you need the right staff... then a room, then insurance, then contacts, etc., etc...

Been dreaming of a brass ensemble... but local politics are awkward  issimo

Yesterday s concert was ok. The drummer, the bass and first trumpet kept it together. They are A1 and do not waste their time at band practices... would have been so much more unusual without them...

I am now outta there. Fingers still in other pies.

Just back from a freebie cabaret and feed. Russian dance troop and peripherals excellent. Very well done. Could have been Paris.

Why am I the only one posting positive stuff on here ? Is it so bad out there ?

Yeah, good question - I've been asking myself the same thing.

Maybe it is so bad out here. I dunno. Perhaps we've all had enough of Corona ...etc...?

Personally, I'm finding it all pretty tough going and am looking forward to going home in January to Australia for the first time in 6 years. I'm feeling suddenly homesick and hope I can work a few things out and come back here with a more POSITIVE attitude. Sorry, if not positive enough!

Did decorate the Xmas tree today - that is good and positive!

Oh, good news here! The young new neighbour ( 26 ) is delightful and a dog lover. His little Lana is 2 years old like my puppy Mandy and equally small and we went for a 90 minute walk with the dogs today. And we have both offered genuine support if one of us needs the other eg look after the other's dog while I'm in the office and he is at the Uni etc. Or I have to do other stuff.

I am HAPPY!👍👍👍❤️❤️😀😀

Edit: actually , I'm the young new neighbour here! He's been here a while!😂

I have bought a field (1 acre) this summer and am now preparing to plant my fruit trees and bushes - I had a lot of fun shopping in the last few months... Have watched countless videos on how to cut them properly to be prepared for next year. Now I can't wait to see them grow

So how much does a field cost ? Sorry to pry...

Did you also buy a lawn mower ? Goats would eat the saplings...

Just gobbled up the leftovers of Friday s gourmet meal which the resto allowed me to take out. Still as good as Friday night ! Yum.
