I wondered what this actually meant...

Then I read this...

I´m not what you´d call a sensitive person but that right there is fucking chilling.

What a truly fucked up world, feel sorry for all those affected, No doubt Trump will be campaigning with the NRA come the next election.

Nineteen young children and two adults have died in a shooting at a primary school in south Texas.

The gunman opened fire at Robb Elementary School - which teaches children aged seven to 10 - in the city of Uvalde before he was killed by law enforcement, officials said.

The 18-year-old suspect had a handgun, an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle and high-capacity magazines, investigators say.

The teenager is suspected of shooting his grandmother before the rampage.

I'm choking. I live just across from a primary school, It's break time and I can hear the children playing in the school yard just now, and cannot comprehend how anyone would want to go there and open fire on them. What a sick, sick individual.

Unfortunately, he's not alone, this will happen again and they still won't do anything, it's so awful

Himself just reported that Smith & Wesson stock is up today. These shootings are great for business.

This is when everyone  who ever entertained owning an assault weapon will go out and buy one in case there is a ban coming.

And so they can protect their children against all the nutters with assault weapons.

Yet strangely enough all the conspiracy theories that come out after such events never involve the arms industry or NRA committing them to boost sales and membership.

Did anyone else miss all the news reports about the 1000s of ProLifers coming out and demanding an end to guns?

Jeez. I was a teacher for 40 years in a number of countries/continents. Asia, Latin America, Europe. Too old now to continue. Never in my whole life have I heard of the wish ( or need ) to arm teachers.😡

The US is seriously buggered up. I gain no satisfaction from saying that. Just sadness.

Such a shitty scenario occurred in Scotland once many years ago and that had repercussions.

Scottish tennis star Andy Murray, a survivor of that day, has reacted:

He is an idiot, and surrounds himself with idiots.  Collectively, they create a new level of stupidity and completely sidestepped the issue of gun control.  His comments about the bravery of law enforcement rushing to the scene (and others have done this at similar events) is grandstanding.  As a former cop and Soldier, we are trained to run towards danger.  That is what we do and there's no need for the puff piece.

I watched as much of this press conference in real time as I could stomach, before changing the channel to something else.  At one point during Abbot's love note to the NRA, a member of the audience walked up to the podium and said something to Abbot.  Almost everyone on the stage lost their shit and yelled at the guy to leave the auditorium.  He was eventually escorted out by law enforcement.  I would love to know what he said to Abbot.

I heard something yesterday evening that I needed to think about over night before I posted on here.  I have a student I teach English to, he’s German and he’s a lovely guy. A bit of a prepper and very much into nature, but that’s fine, I do a little bit of that myself.  We had a discussion yesterday and he told me that last year he bought a small machete knife for his daughter to teach her how to cut bark off trees and cut through greenery in the forest.  This year, he gave her a smart phone because he wants to teach her how to use it properly and for her to be ahead of her peers when it comes to technology.  He has also bought her a gun, grant it, a pellet gun, but he’s teaching her how to use it and will buy her a bigger one as she gets older and he's doing all of this because he wants his daughter to be able to defend herself.  She’s 4 years old!!!

I can’t deny it, I was shocked and it’s still going around and around in my head.  Is this the future, even here?
