It´s curious how  2 of the major countries in the "Free World" both have FPTP (parts of the US anyway) and have 2 of the most fucked up democracies in the world.

Roe vs Wade likely being overturned is because the public elected a clown, racist, homophobic, misogynistic, President who wasn´t fit to govern. That sounds familiar and is also being played out in the country across the pond at this very moment.

It wasn't just the orange clown. Mitch McConnell stole a SCOTUS seat from Obama in 2016, after Scalia died, ostensibly because it was too close to an election (10 months away), only to approve another justice just 38 days before the 2020 election (hence stealing it from the future Biden admin).

 

What's more, 5 of the 6 conservative justices currently on the court were appointed by presidents who lost the popular vote (Bush 2000, TFG 2016).

 

And now they're (apparently) going to throw out 50 years of precedent and settled law because they can. They're all ratfuckers.

Unfortunately judicial power in America is not independent. It's also not 100% independent in most EU countries, but not as bad as in America.

Independence of powers means supreme courts can't be nominated by politicians. It has to be either by popular vote or among judicial agents. Problem is, in America certain judicial agents are also nominated...

Easy and free adoption for the newborn if required.

Free and easily available contraception.
