Ta much! In those days? I didn't even know what insurance was and didn't even think about it! I was an illegal 20 then 21聽year old immigrant!馃槀

I wasn't even health insured when I came to Germany about 1991 or so. Things happened- dodgy health insurance flogged to me - and, in God's good time , I ended up as an insurance broker!馃槀

Probably cost about a thou to have the same work today but properly.

Not many teeth to sort out anymore but Crete awaits end of April! I shall walk into my dentist's place there ( without an appointment ), have some dental cleaning ( after she stubs her ciggie out ) and pay cash!馃槀 No insurance bills! No invoices! Nothing I can send my insurance company! Just the way it is!

She's a great dentist! She showed me how to take a selfie! Her son had shown her how a couple of weeks before!

Your level? Keleth is a sarky bastard but you exude sheer arrogance.

I read (or watched) something some years back which tried to explain why America (generally speaking) keeps voting for lower taxes, privatised healthcare and other such anti-socialist ideas. It basically put the blame on the whole "American dream" narrative. People are either rich, or believe they are going to be rich in the future. How else can you explain why poor people would vote against inheritance tax or universal healthcare?聽It makes no sense. Unless they believe they are protecting their future income/assets. It's drilled into them that hard work is all you need and that socialism is bad. Convincing someone who works 3 jobs that America is the greatest country in the world and everywhere else is a shithole is an amazing magic trick.

The same has happened in the UK. Seeing people from poor northern counties voting for Boris Johnson is astounding. They invented the EU聽Boogeyman and convinced the public that's why they are struggling...not because of years of austerity and incompetence from a conservative government.

I get so sick and tired of thoughts and prayers being offered. I suppose it makes people feel better than trying to change the system. And聽they're cheap. After all, we all know that throwing money at a problem never solves anything, so what remains?

Kemp signs bill allowing people to carry handguns without a license in Georgia into law

Quote

- Gov. Brian Kemp signed a bill allowing Georgia residents to carry handguns in public without a license or background check into law Tuesday. 聽The governor signed a second measure that gives concealed weapons permit holders from other states the ability to carry legally in Georgia as well.

And now Atlanta will be a bloodbath and lots of people all over the state are going to learn the hard way how lax the lower boundaries of self-defense claims are.

I predict 100 murders in the month this goes into effect.

What is even more astounding and unfathomable to me Is that they will very likely vote for him again, despite him being one of the most incompetent PMs in one of the most corrupt govts ever.

I麓ve said it before in this thread but UK politics is now on the same lines as US politics wherein people no longer vote for a party because of what that party will do for them but rather fear of what the other party will do.

Politics is also a lot of whataboutism, when Johnson does his usual bollocks we hear well Starmer is worse etc.

And yet again and again these people keep getting voted in no matter what they do.

We all know guns are beloved by a seemingly big % of the US population and that the lobbyists and NRA rule over Congress yet people keep voting these same Congressmen in.

The last election was supposed to be the seachange for the US in regards to Healthcare, but what has changed. It seems to be the Democrats after having beaten Trump are now just standing around saying um well now what.

Clearly through no fault of your own, you are unaware of the accomplishments of the Biden administration in conjunction with the Democrat-held House and Senate. The accompanying graphic should help.

Also clearly through no fault of your own, since the information cannot be easily and obviously located on the internet or in a library,聽 you are unaware both how the individual states make their own laws or that the Georgia Governor and legislature are Republican dominated.

I regret that all of this information is not readily available.聽

Well as I can麓t read it perhaps you can share your knowledge of how healthcare for everyone has been improved under Biden.

Repealing Trumps fucked up decisions doesn麓t count towards achieving anything as I specifically mentioned healthcare.

First of all, in聽the post I quoted you were complaining about gun safety.

Second, here. It didn't survive the resize.

Healthcare is explicitly discussed in the second column. Go. Read.

Yes in the part of my post you didn麓t quote I mentioned guns but did not mention Bidens victory being a seachange for gun control because we all know it麓s not going to change.

I did say his victory was meant to be a seachange for healthcare which it certainly yet does not seem to be.

From what source do you get the idea that his administration would be a seachange for healthcare?

I recall his campaign being about a return to normalcy, a push for equity for minority populations, and a rebirth of the US's reputation in the world. Healthcare was in the platform of his campaign, but, as everyone who understands the US system knows, that requires him to have solid control of both houses of Congress to achieve, which he does not have. The Build Back Better Act was聽held up in the Senate by faux-Democrat, Maserati-driving Manchin.聽
