What a surprise, you got that wrong. No real change to the mask wearing regulations as per the latest announcement, except no longer required for air travel.

I fly from 🇨🇭 and use public trans there frequently.  No mask requirements in either case.  Isnt’t it odd that we must wear masks on public trans in 🇩🇪 but not in airplanes?  Seems inconsistent to me as both are tight enclosed spaces.  🤔

Of course, it is optional and many still mask up.

My point is that if it's obligatory on trains/busses then it should be on planes too.  I have no problem with the rule, but why is it being applied inconsistently?

Flight from Munich to Athens with Lufthansa where most passengers were international and there was a supposed Maskenpflicht, you could spot the Germans as they were masked up but the for the 70% whom were not it was not enforced.

Flight back from Mykonos which was close to 100% Germans all masked up and I was told off for taking too long to eat my Breze during take off. To quote: "Sir, I noticed you have been eating that Breze for 10 mins, there is a mask requirement on this flight.,"

what happens 15 mins later? They wheel out the the trolley and everyone is eating, drinking and chatting without masks for at least an hour!

it's lunacy, farcical and outright stupid!

At least we know it's safe not to wear a mask from September 24th but it isn't today!😂

something to do with air filtering on air planes but busses and trains can have open windows!

Air exchange is much more frequent and filters used on planes much better than even on ICEs.  By a long way.  Still safter with FFP2 though, of course.

Ha.  Not sure how often you travel on transport here.  ICEs and new ICs and a lot of newer trams and buses only have teeny tiny windows, because they want to discourage them being opened, because of the AC.

Then maybe they should turn off the AC as it actually doesn't work very well when the temperature is above 25 Deg and encourage natural air flow through open windows

But ICE and most IC do not have openable windows.  And transport that does, they are often tiny and useless.  I guess we could smash them.  I have thought about it on a long journey on an IC in August, with broken AC.

I'm currently sitting on a regional train, with all windows sealed and no AC, in Germany.  Quite stuffy in here.  75% mask wearing compliance, with 75% of them using surgical masks, and 50% of those are sitting on chins.  Masks come off before the doors even open.

yep, miss the old British rail trains from the 80s/90s with slide down windows where you could get a blast of fresh air!

And that's why it's stupid to enforce a rule that is not in place in most of the rest of the world. If you want to wear a mask please do it but if you don't then do not so.

I feel many are wearing them haphazardly anyway just to avoid any fine that might come, but that does not protect anyone.

The older ICs still have this is some of their carriages.  And I miss it too.

when one was young and reckless, could even open the door and jump off on to the platform while the train was still moving!

I do not condone this!😀

The whole mask thing is utterly ridiculous.  If you want to wear one,  wear it.  If you don't,  don't. Time for Germany to join the rest of the world.

And I would expect all those who are making up on public transport to mask up when they visit Oktoberfest.  Otherwise they should give it a miss.

Because they are similar because trains are really tents? Or Oktoberfest is going to be held in train carriages with crappy A/C and barely any openable windows this year?

Not getting your vibe.

People who immune suppressed or otherwise vulnerable can choose if they want to go to Oktoberfest.  But not all can choose not to use public transport.  And sure, if they wear masks it will help.  But it will hellp all immune suppressed and otherwise vulnerable people to wear a mask.  Talking about snowflakes. Jesus.
