It appears that Michigan's AG Nessel is all over the fake electors -

Quote

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel appeared on The Rachel Maddow Show Thursday, where she spoke about the scheme in which Republicans in several states that President Biden won forged election documents in an attempt to give the election to former President Trump. Fraudulent electors in Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, Nevada and Georgia sent documents to the National Archives to certify the election for Trump, despite Biden having won. While no one has been arrested yet in connection with this attempted election fraud, Nessel expects authorities to gather more evidence, and that this may have been orchestrated from the highest levels of government.

“Once those individuals see that they could possibly be facing prison time, I do think we’re gonna see some people flip,” Nessel said, “and we’ll get some further information as to who orchestrated this in the first place, who told these people to do this in exactly this fashion, and I think it may go all the way to the top.”

May be an image of 1 person, beard and text that says 'The founder of the far-right Oath Keepers militia group and 10 others have been charged with seditious conspiracyi in the January 6th Capitol attack. GOOD!'

Do you know how this guy lost his eye? He was handling a loaded pistol, playing around, and shot himself in the eye. This is who fancies himself an ersatz-law enforcement officer.

I'm not saying this guy is dumb, but I have handled firearms for decades and never shot myself.

"Rudy Giuliani among Trump allies subpoenaed by Jan. 6 panel"

Quote

WASHINGTON (AP) — The House committee investigating the U.S. Capitol insurrection issued subpoenas to Rudy Giuliani and other members of Donald Trump’s legal team who filed bogus legal challenges to the 2020 election that fueled the lie that race had been stolen from the former president.

The committee is continuing to widen its scope into Trump’s orbit, on Tuesday demanding information and testimony from Giuliani, Jenna Ellis, Sidney Powell and Boris Epshteyn. All four publicly pushed Trump’s baseless voter fraud claims in the months after the election.

“The four individuals we’ve subpoenaed today advanced unsupported theories about election fraud, pushed efforts to overturn the election results, or were in direct contact with the former President about attempts to stop the counting of electoral votes,”

Womp! Womp!

Supreme Court paves way for Trump White House document review by Jan. 6 committee

Quote

The Supreme Court on Wednesday denied former President Donald Trump's request for a stay of a lower court mandate that hundreds of pages of his presidential records from Jan. 6 be turned over to the congressional committee investigating the attack on the U.S. Capitol.

The vote was 8-1. Justice Clarence Thomas would have granted the application.

In November, an appeals court put a temporary pause on the records handover after Trump sued the committee and the National Archives, asserting executive privilege over more than 750 pages of records that the National Archivist had determined were relevant to the Jan. 6 probe into Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 election and the subsequent attack on the Capitol.

Among the records being sought by the committee were White House notes and call and visitor logs from on and around Jan. 6.

"The decision of the court below substantially expands congressional power," Trump's attorneys told the Supreme Court in their petition for review. "The Constitution, this Court’s precedent, and the Presidential Records Act prevent two politically-aligned branches of government from wielding unfettered power to undermine the Presidency and our Republic. This Court should grant certiorari to ensure unlawful exercises of congressional power are checked by both reason and law."

In the court's decision, Chief Justice John Roberts wrote that "the questions whether and in what circumstances a former President may obtain a court order preventing disclosure of privileged records from his tenure in office, in the face of a determination by the incumbent President to waive the privilege, are unprecedented and raise serious and substantial concerns."

"The Court of Appeals, however, had no occasion to decide these questions because it analyzed and rejected President Trump’s privilege claims 'under any of the tests [he] advocated,' without regard to his status as a former President," Roberts wrote.

Between this, the sedition charges against the one-eyed peckerwood and his minions, and the NYAG's filing, Trump is having a losing week...again.

"Trump campaign officials, led by Rudy Giuliani, oversaw fake electors plot in 7 states"

Quote

Washington (CNN)Trump campaign officials, led by Rudy Giuliani, oversaw efforts in December 2020 to put forward illegitimate electors from seven states that Trump lost, according to three sources with direct knowledge of the scheme.

The sources said members of former President Donald Trump's campaign team were far more involved than previously known in the plan, a core tenet of the broader plot to overturn President Joe Biden's victory when Congress counted the electoral votes on January 6.

Giuliani and his allies coordinated the nuts-and-bolts of the process on a state-by-state level, the sources told CNN. One source said there were multiple planning calls between Trump campaign officials and GOP state operatives, and that Giuliani participated in at least one call. The source also said the Trump campaign lined up supporters to fill elector slots, secured meeting rooms in statehouses for the fake electors to meet on December 14, 2020, and circulated drafts of fake certificates that were ultimately sent to the National Archives.

Trump and some of his top advisers publicly encouraged the "alternate electors" scheme in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan, Arizona, Wisconsin, Nevada and New Mexico. But behind the scenes, Giuliani and Trump campaign officials actively choreographed the process, the sources said.

One fake elector from Michigan boasted at a recent event hosted by a local Republican organization that the Trump campaign directed the entire operation.

"We fought to seat the electors. The Trump campaign asked us to do that," Meshawn Maddock, co-chair of the Michigan Republican Party, said at a public event last week that was organized by the conservative group Stand Up Michigan, according to a recording obtained by CNN.

Been a rough week for old Dodgy Donny...

If this could be proven- would it legally prevent Trump from running again? Could he be punished for it even though he was president at the time, enjoying immunity?

Who composed the draft of the executive order is unknown.  Plus, it was never executed.  So I think we need more to put Trump in the pokey and keep him away from another run, but I suspect he’s wetting his pants a lot lately.  This is very embarrassing for him and shows the net is tightening.  👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼

Let me ask in a more general way: Does he still enjoy immunity from prosecution, or is that immunity ending when the term of a president ends.

So, by now we all know that the National Archives released 700+ pages of Trump administration documents.

Now, a Georgia judge has approved a special grand jury for Trump election interference probe

Quote

The approval came at the request of the Atlanta District Attorney Fani Willis, who on Thursday said a significant number of witnesses were refusing to cooperate with her probe of Trump unless they were subject to a grand jury subpoena.

The special grand jury in the Trump probe will begin May 2 and will work for no longer than 12 months, according to an order issued by Fulton County Chief Judge Christopher Brasher, who approved the panel after a majority of county judges endorsed the request.

Under Georgia law, special grand juries, which are rarely created, cannot indict defendants on criminal charges. However, they can issue subpoenas for testimony, documents and other evidence, which a prosecutor then can use as the basis for criminal charges. Special grand juries also can make recommendations on prosecutions of individuals.

Trump lost the 2020 presidential election to President Joe Biden in Georgia and a number of other key swing states, ensuring Biden won the Electoral College vote nationally.

This was done this way because Raffensperger and a few other GOPers did not want to testify without the cover of a subpoena. Now they can testify while telling Georgia Trumpers, "I had to go. It's the law."

Sly dogs.

"January 6 committee member says Trump 'absolutely' tampering with witnesses as he continues to dangle pardons"

Quote

(CNN) A member of the House panel investigating the January 6 insurrection at the US Capitol on Wednesday accused former President Donald Trump of tampering with witnesses by vowing to pardon those involved in the riots if reelected in 2024.

Trump's comments over the weekend added fresh urgency to the committee's work as the prospect of Republican control of Congress in 2023 and a potential reelection bid by Trump threaten to derail the investigation into the riot.

"Absolutely," Rep. Pete Aguilar of California told CNN's Brianna Keilar on "New Day" when asked if Trump was tampering with witnesses by dangling pardons in front of January 6 defendants. "And I think the question is more from my colleagues on the other side of the aisle, you know where -- where are they? Do they support this? When is enough enough?"

Former White House trade adviser Peter Navarro apparently thinks it would have been OK for then-Vice President Mike Pence to challenge the 2020 election results , but not for current Vice President Kamala Harris to do the same in 2024.

After claiming that Pence has the ability to throw votes that might be “suspicious” back to the states, Navarro got into a bit of a tizzy when MSNBC’sAri Melber asked him on Thursday: “It would follow, from your contention, that Vice President Harris should ultimately have the call over who should be president, regardless of the results in the next election?”

Navarro, who was subpoenaed on Wednesday by the House Jan. 6 committee, objected to Melber’s question.

“It’s not for the vice president to determine who wins. The only thing Pence had the authority to do was go back to the states and let the states look at the votes,” he said.

Of course, Navarro ignored the most basic point of his plan: The votes can’t go back to the states unless a vice president like Pence or Harris goes along with the scam.

Melber then noted that the mention of Harris seemed to make the increasingly animated Navarro “stretch,” causing the former Trump aide to cry out with the most passionate “No, no, no, no, no, no!” since the end of the operatic section in Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody.

Navarro repeated that he had never argued that Pence had the authority to change the election results ― even though, once again, his whole plan relies on the vice president making the conscious decision of throwing votes back to the states.
