(US Citizen)Married to German Citizen: Details, finding work, extension of visa?

3 posts in this topic

I as a US citizen am now married to my husband, a German citizen. We have our appointment at the Berlin Immigration Office in January for a residence permit for spouses of German citizens, however, I am wondering if there are any ways I can legally work before we have our appointment, as it is more than three months away. I do have savings, but it's not ideal for me to use them. Additionally, my 'tourist' visa will expire at the end of November. What is the best way to get an extension from the Immigration Office for myself to stay here until I have the residence permit?

I couldn't find any relative information within the past few years, so sorry if there are already similar posts.

Thank you.

hey, I found this:

Spouses arriving in Germany must register their new address at the Einwohnermeldeamt (residents' registration office) and then apply in person for a temporary residence permit for spouses joining their partners. Once a residence permit has been granted, your spouse is immediately entitled to take up any kind of employment in Germany.

Did you already registered? maybe go again and ask there?
