I feel this all started with the 2008 financial crash, and since then it's been a series of strange events and moments in time that lead to now. An inept Labour party imploded, giving Johnson a huge win in 2019 and allowing his ineptitude to further send the country spiralling into the shitshow we have now.

The ERG, will push as hard as possible to break the EU agreement over NI, that will lead to a further loss of trade with the EU and make people still worse off in the UK ( predicted to be a further 2 % ). and probably make the EU a bit worse off as well. And what new freedom has the UK got for it, with the IMF and world leaders/Markets telling the UK, to scrap the ( so called ) Mini-budget, and it has done. Roll on greater freedom to choice the UK's own way. Laughable

It was indeed but I still believe the vote result was due to austerity and associated issues as detailed by @theGman

earlier, so effectively sections of  the Tory government manufactured the circumstancies, deliberately or not, that encouraged the brexit result.

We can but hope that their dismal failures over the last 12 years won't be forgotten and they will never again be a political force.

The fact UK's exports have imploded, must have a major impact on economic performance, and what was the single biggest reason for them imploding?  The new regulations, redtape and tarrifs caused by the UK's withdrawl from its largest export market! 

 

Truss was backed by Rees-Mogg who behind the scenes pulls many of the strings.  He is at the centre of the Brexit ideology,  but at the same time must realise he personally hasn't the right image to win votes nationwide. So next best, is to find a candidate who is easy to manipulate. >>> Liz Truss.

I think that's Steve Bray, who kept shouting "Stop Brexit" during broadcasts from Westminster, with the top hat in the first photo and again in the third photo, with the third photo also featuring Dr Mike Galsworthy (beard, black jacket, wine-coloured top) of Scientists for EU.

I suspect we will be seeing more and more of this till there is a general election, nice to see the BBC hammering nails in the Tory coffin. I watched some of Question Time on Thursday night, I know it was a London audience but it was absolutely toxic against the govenment.

I disagree. There were a few Labour Brexiters, but the majority (and party line) wanted remain. Labour are just afraid to say they are unhappy with the decision. A sensible move would be for them to propose rejoining the single market and customs union (effectively the Norway/Swiss model) whilst remaining a non-EU country. Of course, that isn't as good as being a full member of the EU (no rebate, no say in new rules/regulations), but it would allow them to solve the Irish border issue, massively help those UK businesses that want to trade with the EU, and most importantly (politically) they could still claim to be outside the EU.

The "cost" would doubtless be the reintroduction of free movement, but I would expect the majority in the UK have now seen the folly of the restriction on movement anyway.
