Health insurance for recently graduated student on a job seekers visa

4 posts in this topic

I am looking for a reasonable priced health insurance plan for a friends sister, who recently graduated and is on Job seekers visa.

As a student she had enrolled herself in TK fro the student scheme. She planning on cancelling this contract with TK as it is too expensive for recent graduates on the job seekers visa.

She found Mawista as an alternative, but from what I have read they dont have good reviews and even dont have a good coverage. They have a student plan ( fro expats on job seekers visa) fro about 80 euros.

Are there any other alternative which are lower than this and are better in terms of coverage ?

Or are there other insurances for a lower price but with a similar coverage as Mawsita ?

Personally I wouldn't recommend a other health insurances only to cut costs, but as a recent graduate on the lookout for a  job I can understand the plight.

Any recommendations would be of great help.

Thanks

Usual topic for ex-students!

An alternative is CareConcept ( HanseMerkur ). They have their online quote program etc -though I recommend neither them nor Mawista  if there are pre-existing medical conditions or any risk of pregnancy ( waiting times)...

I know how tempting it is... I used to be a student !! I have also seen how things can go wrong by " doing cheap." " I never knew I already had condition A B or C but I had a check up the other day."

( Actual case the other day.. an email . " I am pregnant but Mawista are not paying my bills.. can I switch to a better provider?" )

( Answer: No )

If the OP's friend can maybe get short term financial assistance from friends or family- safer to stay with public health insurance.

Disclaimer: I am an independent insurance broker etc!😂 And this is an unpaid piece of public information for the greater good! I am NOT paid to be the bearer of good or bad news. ❤️

Karma, babes.

I just joined the KSK, but was recently using the Expat Health policy from https://feather-insurance.com up until I joined. I never had any issues with them. it was 72€ a month with a 25€ deductible.

I used it 2x, once for a shoulder injury at the emergency room, and again for an ear cleaning at a specialist. I payed the treatments myself, and then submitted claims and was reimbursed within a week both times (minus the 25€)
