um? I don't know yet - I'm still alive, so I know the best is yet to come :)

I can list a few highlights, though:
planting a tree (actually, several trees)
writing a book (still adding pages to that)

building a house (well, helped building one, and purchased two finished ones)

having a child

meeting the perfect mate (had to try a few different ones)

keeping all my original body parts (with the exception of 9 teeth)

So far, being able to retire in my 30s.

Next, I will move entirely off-grid and be truly free.

Success and failure are impostors, treat them as such.

That would be a good base for a poem... IF of course, no one has done it already.

1. I am alive

2. I have a job and a place to live.

3. I have a sea view from my apartment, even though this is not my achievement, I just happen to live in a coastal country.

Next target: survive at least until median life expectancy (83) so I collect the money I am paying to the pension funds of various countries.

*) My wife, our child, and I are a loving family

*) I won 2 marathons, the biggest with 1700+ participants

*) I studied at the bestest undergrad Uni because they thought I was cut for it

*) I almost (!!) represented my country at the Olympics. Almost because they took the first 5, I finished 6. Not the normal summer or winter Olympics, some very exotic thing, but still.

*) have the job I wanted 40+ yr ago, and have more money than ever thought of

  1. Still alive.
  2. Finding a girl who has stayed just short of 38 years with me so far.
  3. Raising 2 children, through school & further education into jobs without running into dangers like drugs** & so on.  Joint effort.
  4. Learning to fly gliders & motorgliders (as a kid I was scared of flying).
  5. Managing (but only just) to be in gainful employment until I reached the official retirement age here.

** Daughter has a lot to do with drugs but thats because she works in the toxialogical lab of UKE Rechtsmedizin.

Long ago (fairly modest) academic achievements

Learning several languages

Having had the courage to jump off life's metaphorical cliffs - and landing without breaking an ankle, so far...

Bringing a beautiful, healthy daughter into the world

Meeting The One (albeit too late and in less than ideal circumstances)

(Modest) Musical accomplishments on three instruments - still working on it

I'm not even sure I could come up with something that's the best thing I've ever done.

I'm just getting on with life and trying to ride out the waves and avoid the icebergs.

I've  been making fun here.

The best thing I ever did in my life was going to visit the young man in prison who killed my son as a drunk driver and forgiving him face to face. He never intended to do it.

It saved me from living in anger the rest of my life.

Soz to intrude, but that takes strength.

I can't say I'd be able to do the same in similar circumstances.

Shows me how lucky I am to be able to say I am just be riding out the waves and avoiding the icebergs.

Achievement:

I became aware that I can be an a**hole very often, now I know how to prevent it from hurting my loved one's. It is a struggle

Next Objective:

I want to create an information source on colon cancer detection and treatments around my home town in India after this corona mess calms down. People are unaware. So many falls victim to ignorance and lack of guidance.
