Abandoned or between-buildings houses in Berlin

12 posts in this topic

Hi everyone! For a personal photographic collection I'm looking for abandoned houses or houses that are still standing between taller buildings. Do you know any in or around Berlin that can join my collection?

Thanks everyone!

 You're about 10 years too late.  Search: property prices berlin

There were a lot on the way out in direction Falkenberg from Greifswalderstraase S-bahn station. That was quite a while ago though.

Best bet is to hop on a bike and go search.  Can't say if they are still there, as catjones says, as the prices have gone up, more and more have been renovated.

If you have a car, you could drive out of Berlin. A lot of villages and towns in the country still have those kind of places. Sometimes you have lovingly restored houses next to ruins.

Actually there are still properties in East Berlin whose ownership is still not yet settled.

@Loreta

Try Torstraße between Friedrichstraße and Rosenthalerplatz as well as the side streets going north.

I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but here in Friedenau there's a beautiful old building that's been standing derelict for some time now. There's even a community initiative to buy the place from the current owner to prevent further dilapidation. Here's a blog on the matter, including some pictures, etc:

You might have more luck in Westdeutschland, most towns in the East have been tidied up.

Can you see this building? It is still standing in between many new buildings.

That must be from several years ago, the whole area is now more or less completely built up, with no gaps.

Typically Google Street View in Germany is very often years out of date, primarily because of objections on the basis of privacy concerns.

Edit: @Brockman acknowledged that is is now amongst new buildings...
