How is Provident Fund from India taxed in Germany?

1 post in this topic

Hello All,

Does any one have experience in declaring Provident Fund (Retirement benefit) earned via previous employment in India? I could not find any relevant information on this topic.

1. Do we have to declare total sum withdrawn from provident fund or only the interest earned? (Total amount was credited to my account while am resident in Germany. However, contribution to this fund was from past 10 years before I moved to Germany)

2. If it is total sum, which form do we have to fill, Anlage R?

3. If it is only interest earned, Is Fiktive Steuergutschrift of 10% applicable as this income is tax free in India?

Any information on this would be highly appreciated, Thanks a lot.
