Berlin Corona Vaccinations

39 posts in this topic

A friend of mine who, like me,  is residing in Cyprus has returned to Berlin to look after her father (who is suffering from Parkinson´s disease) because her mother, who is usually looking after him,  had to go to hospital. He named her as his caregiver and she was vaccinated within a couple of days and will even get her second jab before she´ll return even though she´ll only have stayed 1 month. Not too bad.

Rang up my Hausarzt and have been offered 1st jab on May 15th as long as I'm happy to get AZ (which I am). Second on August 7th, which is a bit of a wait, but what the heck. Maybe there'll be a cancellation in the interim.

According to RBB 19,7% (around 724.000) have received a first jab in Berlin (12th place of all the Länder) and 8,1% the second jab (2nd place).

As of yesterday it is possible for patients under 60 to receive AZ through their family doctors as well as certain specialists.

Please note that the actual availability of AZ at various practices around the state will vary. Contact your doctor for further details. Keep in mind that most doctors will give priority to their own patients before you start going through the phone book and calling every doctor in the city.

My partner just had her first jab at Arena in Treptow (BionTech) and was impressed by the speed and efficiency of the operation.

Under certain circumstances, yes.

For example, if you are 70 or over you would have received a code by mail that you can use to make an appointment. If you have certain chronic illnesses and gave public health insurance, you might have also received a code. Depending on your occupation, you could gave received a code through your employer.

As of Monday May 3rd Berlin is officially starting on group 3 (according to the government's 4 group system - not to be confused with the STIKO's 6 group system).

Furthermore, Berlin will probably have enough vaccines to also start supplying Betriebsärzte in 2 or 3 weeks.

Now that the AZ vaccine is available to anyone over 18 in Berlin, I rang several Hausartzt practices and managed to get an appointment for my wife and I for tomorrow. I suggest anyone interested have a look, and start making calls: https://www.kvberlin.de/fileadmin/user_upload/fuer_patienten/corona/uebersicht_AstraZeneca-Impfpraxen.pdf

What do you need to get an appointment?

Would they accept a person with a valid Gesundheitskarte but no Anmeldung in Germany?

Latest updates on vaccinations in Berlin. Priority now is Group 3, teachers etc.

Concerning the second jab, over 60's who have already had AZ for their first will receive BionTech for the second at the former Tegel Airport Impfzentrum; under 60's will receive Moderna at Erika-Hess-Eisstadion in Wedding.

Strange, school teachers in Berlin were invited back at the end of March to get vaccinated. Has something changed?

Yes. The offer was rescinded just before the Easter break. Apparently the teachers at my son's school were extremely pissed off about it, too.

They were supposed to get AZ and then AZ was restricted to those over 60.

In case they haven't received the official info yet, you might want to mention it to them.

I know someone over 60 who called yesterday and was able to get an appointment in the last week of May.

They were offered to get either one. My husband’s invite allowed him to get either one.

And in typical German fashion, rather than doing something about it, they get pissed but do what the government says anyway 🙄🙄

My husband just went ahead and got it.
