Covid-19 Poll (UPDATE 9 Aug 2020: new poll questions)

Is Coronavirus a hoax?   77 votes

  1. 1. Do you believe Covid-19 is a dangerous virus and that the recommended measures are justified?

    • 1. Yes, 100%. I wear my mask, practice social distancing and and pay more attention to hygiene and unnecessary travel.
      55
    • 2. Yes, for the most part, but I do think some of the social distancing and hygiene stuff is a bit over the top. I'm OK to wear a mask in shops
      13
    • 3. Corona is probably just a bad flu. I wear the mask because it's easier than not doing it but I don't think it's probably really necessary.
      2
    • 4. Corona is dangerous primarily to the elderly, unfit, and immune-compromised. There's no reason to quarantine *all of us* for their benefit.
      1
    • 5. Bill Gates/aliens/lizard people/5G/the Chinese/Big Pharma/whatever. No to masks.
      2
    • 6. Maybe it's a real virus and maybe it's not but the government is abusing the crisis to take away our basic civil rights and freedoms
      0
    • 7. Roboter mit Senf
      3
    • 8. Yes, but I think the government is exploiting the crisis to distract from other problems.

Since "to mask or not to mask" seems to be the question dividing friends, family members and colleagues, I've started to become curious about the dunkelziffer of covid-deniers.  People who are wary of speaking up because they don't want to alienate the people around them.  I only have a couple of open, vocal covid-deniers on my social media and they are always getting into fights and arguments with people about it.  I keep them around because I find it fascinating.  Also, because I don't hate them for the science-fiction novel they call the inside of their brain, even if I don't agree with them.

After the "Tag der Freiheit" last weekend with their made-up numbers it made me even more curious what the actual statistics would look like.

So to get a little closer to finding out roughly what proportion of people think this way or that, I wanted to try an anonymous poll. No one will be able to see how you voted, not even me.  If there's an answer I should have included, you can PM me and I will include it if you like.

Well so far TT seems to be gong the way a common sense.
Unlike some people I know on FB (friends collected through the years), one of which is running around saying the lego video featuring Blue is just to use kids to control adults.

Rather that just listing steps to stop you from being potentially infected.
So far i've collected 2 "f*ck yous" and three rather barbed comments about my ability to function as a sheep...

Today we traveled with the pooch to the Swiss Alps and hiked, as it's only a 1.5 hour train ride from Konstanz to a gorgeous area where one takes the Seilbahn up and then goes wandering about. 😊 Being a Thursday it wasn't overrun with people either.

On the train ride back to Germany a Swiss resident in our car was NOT wearing his mask, even though it's mandated on Swiss public trans (albeit nowhere else in the Kantons near us), and he let out a gigantic sneeze spraying his droplets everywhere. 🤮  The same thing happened last week on a bus ride within Switzerland last week where two friends chatted the whole time with masks down on the chins just in case they would have to quickly put them on. Really unbelievable! 🤦‍♀️ Obviously some people just can't be bothered.

Another option should be

"Yes virus is real but the govts are using it to distract from other problems"

I seriously cannot see how people can believe it is a hoax perpetrated by every govt in the world. Those same govts who can`t even agree on what colour the napkins should be when they have a summit.

Well, the world can’t get enough of constant warring. We have nuclear weapons, we have had mustard gas shit,  fucking world wars, we have had chemical warfare so how about some testing of shit by the military establishment which may have got out of control?
Just maybe?
Or maybe not?

No idea- but we live in a sadistic world where arms producers rake the money in.

The whole poll is basically biased to make all critics of the current government policies to look like idiots.

You are given the options to choose between "the virus exists" and "the virus does not exist" instead of "current government policies make sense" vs "current government policies make zero sense".

I disagree, the second, third, and sixth options were created expressly with those people in mind.

Those were the options that came to me and in the very first post I already invited anyone with any other possible options to suggest them to me and I will add them to the poll.  Not everything is a conspiracy.

@Keleth done

It did make things a little more complicated though because now it's kind of tempting to make it so people can choose more than one option.  Like, I might choose yours and the first one.  But I want the answers to be as close to a person's main gut feelings as possible and not let them wantonly choose everything on the list that somewhat suits them.  If I have to choose just one, I still stick with the first one.

What about an option like: Current measures are reasonable for a limited time say up to 1 (?) year?

Yes, it has been historically so obvious that diseases follow human time schedules that we can say that now. Thanks for the morning laugh.

You missed out a bit, conspiracy sheep Trevour actually said "I'm telling you the man and the dog are definitely working together and the dog is in charge".:)

Not really. But it´s historically obvious that people´s tolerance for economic hardship is limited. There have wars been fought when less was at stake.

I'm generally an open skeptic when it comes to conspiracies.
If people can present proof, then great, if not then they are just an interesting idea (or a crazy one).

I'll also take the piss out them depending on the level of craziness.
