American Living In Berlin — Can I Travel to U.K. with Coronavirus Restrictions?

3 posts in this topic

Hi I have a 3-year Aufenthaltstitel, and I am registered at my apartment in Berlin. I want to visit my boyfriend's family in the U.K. but I have an American passport, and Americans aren't allowed entry into the UK or Europe.  Will I be able enter with my German residency permit, despite the fact that I'm American? Will I be able to return to Germany ok?  If anyone has a similar experience I would love to hear about it.

Thanks!

It is not your citizenship that is important, rather where are travelling from.

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-travel-corridors

"Exemption rules

You may not have to self-isolate when you arrive in England, if you are travelling from one of the countries or territories listed below. That is because these countries or territories are:

  • covered by the travel corridor exemption
  • within the common travel area (Ireland, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man)
  • British overseas territories

You will need to self-isolate if you visited or made a transit stop in a country or territory that is not on the list in the 14 days before you arrive in England."

You do have to fill out a passenger locator form less that 48 hours before you arrive.
